I also used a torque wrench set to 11ft/lbs to make sure they were not over tightened.

I'm seeing a loss of around 2mpgs, but the truck definitely runs much smoother and I have not experienced any of the power lag and horrible shudder. I couldn't imagine new plugs would make your mpgs worse. Some of it could be winter finally coming as it has been very mild up until about a month ago.
It's not the temperature so much as the winter fuel blend causing your mileage to decrease. I drive a company F150 ecoboost as well as my truck in my sig. Both trucks drop 2-3 mpg as soon as winter fuel hits the pumps regardless of ambient temperature.

I loose 2-4 MPG in the winter depending on temperature. The TSB in regards to Fuel in the Oil replaced the block heater with a much better one and now plugging it in helped with some MPG loss.

Really these trucks transmissions take so long to heat and get to running temps the winter MPG hurts from that too. Winter gas doesnt help but pumping cold oil everywhere really doesnt help. Sometimes I wonder if a transmission heater would be worth it.

That really makes sense, I'm overthinking it with the timing of changing my plugs.

I used to run Gulf 87 octane in the winter because the fuel mileage was so much worse and it was cheap, but my second winter the MPG dipped into the 16s. I got a deal on my Mobil card of 25 cents off per gallon so I switched to Mobil 93 and immediately got back 1.5 mpg. Ford does suggest premium for towing and summer heat, plus Top Tier http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers/ gas for the extra detergents. Top Tier does not mean big name brand (Sunoco is not Top Tier), but meeting specific detergent requirements to help keep direct injection engines clean.

I've been really happy with my MPT tunes. I run the 87 performance tune normally and load up the 91 perf tune from time to time. Throttle response is way better and power increase with even the 87 tune is great.

Great customer service, I would recommend them.

After loading new MPT tunes last night after having 5star for a few weeks, I have to say I like the 5star tunes much better. The throttle response seems much better and the power comes on much quicker. I didn't like how the MPT tunes shifted either. It would frequently downshift to 5th sooner than I wanted on the highway and then get stuck in 5th for awhile, where as the 5star tune just sticks in 6th gear and let's it spool up and pull through. Also, the 5star tunes get substantially better gas mileage. I daily with the 87 perf/tow tune from 5star and it is perfect IMO. Also have the 93 performance for when I want to play around a little more. I have the 87 performance street, 93 performance street, and 93 performance race from MPT and just don't feel like they make the power down low that the 5star makes and I just don't really like how they drive

That was my experience as well.

Which Engine/Tranny tunes are you comparing? I have the "Chill" tranny tune with my 87 Perf tune and really like it. Even the "Street" tranny tune with my 91 perf tune, the shifting is dramatically improved over stock. I did notice with both tunes though that you had to drive it pretty conservatively for the first 30-40 miles. If you didn't the shifting wasn't the same.

Not saying there isn't room for improvement, I would be willing to try 5*.

On the MPT tunes, I had a 87 perf street that I really didn't like. Throttle response seemed super laggy and the transmission just didn't seem to be in the gear I wanted it to most of the time, often downshifting too quickly and then holding the lower gear for what seemed like forever. Compared to the 5* perf/tow tune which felt like it pulled down low harder, had much better throttle response, and just seemed to always be in the prefect gear for what I wanted. Comparing the MPT 93 race to the 5* 93 performance, I wouldn't say I could tell a huge difference when getting on it hard. I still liked the throttle response and drivability of the 5* better, but couldn't say one made more power than the other at WOT

Thanks, that makes sense. I am happier with the "chill" tune for Day to day driving. The "street" is fine for me when I want to do some spirited driving as it does hold gears much longer.

I am looking at a 93 octane tune for this summer, it may be a great opportunity to try 5*.
