Nissan Titan getting a V8 Cummins diesel!!!
Well it looks like Cummins might actually save Nissan's truck department just like they did for Dodge Ram. They are offering the new Titan with a 5.0L V8 Cummins turbo diesel 300+ hp and 550lb/ft torque!! This will be interesting, To bad the truck is so damn ugly..

We can only hope they redesign the truck to work better with the engine. I bought a new Nissan "little 4x4" back in 85 and it was perfect for the 8 years I had it. Bought a 93 F150 after that which was also perfect until I moved to a 04 F250. The 6.0L in it sucked so I went to an 05 Tundra which I kept until 2012. I'm really happy with my 6.2L F150 which I tow with often. I do wish I could pull 15mpg towing which is diesel territory. Paying less attention to fuel stops would make me happy.

There's no comparison with the little Nissan's they sell/sold to the Titan. I had an 04 Titan with the rev happy 32 valve 5.6 V8 plus a great deal more interior volume and liked it but wished the engine had a bit more grunt.
Back in 08 they were already talking about the Cummins engines in the Titan and according to the dealer were slated for release with the next generation Titan. Right. Nissan didn't give a damn about the full size truck market or else they'd have updated the platform.
Releasing this IS a good thing. We need other manufacturers to keep Ford on their toes but I have zero brand loyalty. If my 12 KR EB takes a crap on me no more Ford's for a while. I just can't ever bring myself to own a Chebbie again however

I hate Nissans. Every one of them. They seem to love to build weird, fugly crap..Like these:
And this:
As well as this:
Not to mention this:
Dis:
I don't have high hopes or expectations for the new Titan's design..But at least they'll have that glorious diesel going for them. That will be a winner and powertrain wise it will likely shake up the competition. But I refuse to buy a Nissan.

With that much torque this truck could take away some of the market share from the 3/4 ton trucks. If it really is going to have 300+ Hp and 550 torque, my old Duramax LLY (2nd gen) only had 305 hp and 605 torque and it was a 6.6L This could force Ford into making a 5.0L EcoBoost.
