this is what i have, trying to find something smaller. will prolly have to put a reducer on it so i wont have to drill such a big hole. How do you believe the intake and programmer solve the problem for you? Id much rather go that route instead of drilling into the cac or dealing with fords "fix"

Honestly, I think the risk is low in the face of the alternative. I've never suffered the issue, and really don't expect to after going through several weeks of idea conditions earlier this summer, and I'm in warranty, so I haven't drilled the hole. That said, if I had even and inkling that it was coming, I'd drill a 1/32 whole in a heart beat.

Yea but as soon as I was to they'd come out with a true fix with the issue and I'd be out because of a hole I drilled. Doesn't matter tho, I believe I found the issue to my problem. 2014 f250 fx4.

What still bothers me and the reason I'll still drill the hole, is that neither the injen intake or the tuner really prevent condensation.

It is my theory that the issue is a combination of problems from bad plugs, out of spec gapping of plugs, Ford's PCM programming that allows flat spots and stumbles and, of course, condensation pooling in the CAC. Changing/regapping plugs resolves part of that, a good tune resolves part of it and drilling the hole helps with part of it. I like Mike's warmer air theory too. Since my plugs were bad by 41K, have been replaced and I have a SoCal tune, I believe I have reduced the chances of a "perfect storm" of issues. It has only happened to me 4 times in 42K, the first two while it was stock, the last two while towing a 9500 lb fiver in high humidity/rain. For the second situation, I had the Wagner IC and an LMS tow tune which did not eliminate the flat spots and tumbling, but my plugs were also still out of spec and, at 39K, going bad.
Obviously there can be other contributors like bad coil packs and cracked plugs, bad wiring, loose connections etc.

Ah yes, remember them well. but as I recall the intent was to warm up the air entering the carb to basically lean out (less dense air) to improve emissions and save the cats...
