Default FullRace Intercooler

I am thinking about blowing a little of my tax money.... I want to buy a full race intercooler upgrade but I was wondering with all of that intercooler in front of the radiator, trans cooler, and ac condenser is it going to cause issues while towing at max capacity? I realize that the air will flow through the IC but do you guys think it will cause too much inefficiency of the other components? Engineer Mike?

I don't see where its going to be an issue. Worst case, upgrade to a lower temp thermostat and bring your coolant temps down. Its been talked about. I've been running one since last summer. Stock is 188, you can get a 170. Highest temps stock I saw 210 regularly and at times 215. With the 170 and fans updated in the tune highest is 190, usually 185~…

Ha ha, thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to your question. Certainly, it will restrict and heat up the air going the radiator and other coolers. The question is. . . how much? And how much safety factory did Ford put in the cooling systems? My gut says it'll be fine, but I have no data. I know Ford had to design the thing to pull 11,300 lb up a mountain in death valley in the summer on crap gas with 200,000 miles of wear on it. So, as long as you're not doing that, you're probably ok.

Also keep in mind that when you cruising down the highway your intake temp, even after the turbos are going to be close to ambient, cooling effect would be negligible. The worse case scenarios are going to be when you are pulling in slow conditions and the temps are hot, at those points, I would watch the engine and trans temps (which you should anyways in those conditions)
