All winter I had the gears show on my display with the 87 perf tune. Lost it when back to stock for dealer, then went to 89 perf and no gear display. How to I get the gears back?

Did you try pushing the + button?

Agreed, push the + button on the shifter and it will come back on.

Hey, Sluggo! We each have our own areas of expertise. This was easier than reading the manual.

I'm not going to pile on mainly because it's a bit hard to find this info, but also because it isn't a feature, it's a side effect. It just happens that if you press + the gears display, and from there you can manually shift or lock out gears. Frankly, I find it odd that there is space reserved on the display to show what gear i am in but it is off by default, as if Ford thinks you don't want to know what gear you are in except when you are manually shifting.

If that space was otherwise occupied by something else, it would make more sense, but as it is, the design seems, well, stupid.

In anticipation of a towing trip soon, I've filled the last couple of partial tanks with 91 and 93 octane. Today I changed from the 89 performance tune to the 91 tow tune and went for a spin. I noticed that it pulled a couple of long grades in 6th instead of 5th and I was impressed. Then with a gentle start at a green light, I quickly pushed the pedal down about 2/3 and holy crap! it spun the tires, they grabbed then chirped into 2nd gear. The OMG factor went up a couple of notches!

What kind of differences are there between the livernois unit and tunes versus sct?
