So there is nothing that is stored in the ecm or anything else that ford can find out that u were messing about? the tuner stores your stock settings im assuming? Okay fine. It's happening, thanks for the push in the right direction

With the 6.0 fiasco I get why it seems sketchy. But Livernois did their homework unlike some other companies. And if there is ever an issue with the tune we all have Rick to help us out.

Now you need to follow the warnings about towing say a 6,000 lb trailer on one of the performance tunes as that will melt the cats.

Also once you pull a custom tune out and reload the stock file it doesn't leave a trace. Reload it a few days in advance though. I reloaded my stock file 15 miles from the dealer and they had to drive it around to get it to clear the code from me "unhooking the battery".

I don't know if its all about livernois doing their homework but more like ford doing the homework.

If that is the case then people wouldn't be having issues with shuddering and or falling on its face. Also had they been thorough in their homework people wouldn't be finding plugs gaped all over the place. But that is my opinion just like your comment was yours.

First off about the 6.0 ford didn't develop the engjne. International did and failed their homework. Livernois tunes all the time so the homework has been done and passed with flying colors. Ford developed the ecoboost and most have an A+ engine except for a few.

My truck went back to the dealer, literally 17 times. Ford couldn't fix it. But I put a tuner on it when they decided they'd done all the tsb's that were available and it hasn't been back since.

So you make a comment in reference to mine and then after I respond you go back and nit pick what I say because you don't agree with my statement.

In the case of the 6.0 both companies screwed up yet Ford had or has a stake in that company. But that is beside the point. I simply gave the gentleman an example.

Livernois has been tuning vehicles for a long time yes, but had to research and develop a tune specifically for our trucks. I'm glad you took my response to the other forum member and decided you had nothing better to do then spout off over something so silly.

Something I'm curious about, I put the off road pipe on mine and if I load the stock tune back into the pcm the "check engine" light is going to illuminate without the cats. I know the dealer and this won't be an issue. Someone that doesn't know the dealer could have a problem but I guess taking it back to the dealer without cats can create a bigger problem........................................... .... I never plan to load the stock tune back into the truck anyway.

I have a 2012 stock ecoboost screw. I run 91 conventional (non ethanol) gas 99.5% of the time. I sometimes haul heavy stuff in the bed and rarely pull a trailer- its usually just me going to places off of paved roads. I have a f1 cover on the bed. Other than maybe a different air filter at some point, I don't really plan to do any other performance related mods in the near future. Just not really my thing right now because I don't have the time or money for it.

That being said, I have been wanting to get a tuner because I've heard I can get better throttle response, smoother shifting and possibly improved mpg. I have also heard about the guys who smoke the tires in 1st and chirp them going into 2nd. I don't want that. I also don't want to take it to the track. I want to be able to drive around town, occasionally be able to punch it and pass the granny's on the county two lane roads and be able to maximize the mpg most of the time because my job pays per mile so better mpg equals more cash on both ends.


So my question is can a livernois tuner do the blend between economy and performance without me constantly breaking the back end loose on accident? Would one of the others be better for what I am describing as my needs? I have been saving up and planned to contact Rick but since I've been reading how busy he is and I know he is probably subscribed to this thread, I figured it would be better to ask here.
