Quick question. When I ordered and gave Rick my strategy code he said there was an update for mine already so they programmed the tune reflect that. Haven't had a chance to install the tune yet due to work but will be Friday. Just wondering if you guys think that has to do with the latest 12-2-12 tsb from Ford?

I made a towing trip to the same campground as a month ago, but this time with the 87 Tow Tune. Impressive pulling onto interstate from ramps. I recall getting 9.1 mpg towing 8500lbs last time. Today I got 10.1 mpg with the tune and same cruise control setting of 60 mph.

Well boys and girls finally got around to installing my 87 octane tune today. Also installed my AFE Stage 2 intake and for my thoughts and complete review on that please visit the AFE thead located here:

https://www.f150forum.com/f70/afe-sta...53150/index24/

Now to the Livernois tune...First off this was well worth every single penny that I fretted about prior to purchasing..Granted I only put about 50 miles or so on it today after install but I could not be happier at this point.. I installed the AFE prior to the tune.. I went back and forth about which to do first to test them out but I ended up installing the intake, then crusing around with that, then installing the tune and crusing around. The combination of the 2 with my 4" SOLO Exahust is incredible.. This truck has some serious ***** and now I am chomping at the bit to try out the 93 tune! So here is my review at this point...

Observations/Install: Got in the truck, turned everything off as directed, plugged in programmer and followed the prompts. Right off the bat it told me it detected a DTC Code of P160A. I think this was because Rick had the unit programmed for an update to the PCM Code that I initially gave him from my truck. When I ordered he told me there was already an update so I am guessing this code was due to that. The unit instructed me on how to clear the code and then I followed the prompts to install the tune. Took about 5 minutes (as I was told) and at the end the gauges flickered, lights flashed, etc..Then tells you tune installed and press Y to finish.. Then simply disconnected the unit and started her up. Everything on the dash and navigation screen was just as should be and was prior..I turned on the A/C and there was a slight hesitation but then kicked in and now kicks on right away every time I start the truck. Another member told me about this prior so I wasn't concerned and it was literally like a 5 second delay initially and is now gone..Now it was time to test her out...

Performance: I should note that I had about 1/4 tank of gas left in the truck at this time and it was 93 octane. I doubt that made any huge improvements but since then I have topped off the tank with 87 to test it out at that octane. Around the subdivsion at 20-25mph speeds truck ran perfect just as prior with no changes in anything..Then got her on the open road and began to press that pedal down!! Took it easy at first but immediately noticed the response increase at very partial throttle..Much more response than before..I was already smiling!! Then got on it and mashed it and the truck absolutely came to life!! The shifts were firm and precise, response incredible, and all around felt great..Up to 70 mph in blink of an eye and let off pedal, came down to 50 and set cruise control..Completely back to normal, nice steady cruise, perfect daily driver..Tooled around at normal speeds from 30-40-45-50 and up...Felt perfect.. Then lets say that I miraculously found my way down to open non traffic roads in ummmm Mexico!! Yeah that's it Mexico.. Turned left from a stop sign onto the open road, feathered that pedal down slowly further and further as the truck kept pulling away..Looked down and was at 110mph!! No joke 110 and was smooth as butter..Truck was hanging in 3rd gear during the majority of this climb in speed and then at 110 I noticed it was in 4th..Let off because my *** was clenched enough at this point..Truck creeped down in speed and went into 6th gear..Turned cruise back on when i hit 55mph and continued on my merry way..

Overall: I am by no means a "car guy" or claim to be an expert in engines, etc...I am an average Joe who can tinker with a car and install plenty of stuff on my own and do average maintenance by myself. I don't own a dyno or plan on even going to one because I simply know this truck has waaaaaay more ***** now than stock.. I didn't buy this tune from Livernois simply for "speed" but because I know Ford left more to be had with this truck. I applaud Rick and the Livernois crew for all of their research and development with Ecoboost tunes and it clearly shows they are at the top of the pack. Guys can whine and complain about the price or fact that at this time the device only holds one custom tune but to each his own and this tune fits me perfect for my wants and needs. The device holding only one custom tune is a mute point to me. Simple enough to email Rick for new one, download it onto the device and then install it into the truck. And for the price I have access to all the tunes they currently make and whatever they may come up with in the future. Thanks Rick for all of your input into this thread and the great customer service.. If anyone has any questions let me know.. I will try to drive conservatively here in the near future because I really want to see how the combo of this tune, my intake, and exhaust do as far as MPG go..I will post those numbers up in the near future once I get some more miles under my belt..

I have tried 87 perf then tow and now back to perf. Tonight I started getting a shudder from 70 to 75 or 80. I have not had any shudder issues prior to this, not even with stock tune. Anyone else have this happen? I checked and I got no dtc's.

When I went in for my oil change last week, Ford performed the 12-2-12 TSB. I asked Rick about it, but he had no knowledge of the TSB.

From what I've read, and experienced twice myself (first time was bone stock), it's more than likely condensation in your intercooler. Ford has a (bandaid) fix for it right now. I've opted not to do it yet, since I noticed that if I get on the pedal good at least once during my drive, the issue doesn't rear it's ugly head.
