New Member, EB bad gas mpg

Hey guys i recently just bought a 2013 F150. I have 201 miles on the clock, got it with 8.8 miles, im averaging 12 mpg with normal city driving. Is this because the engine is still in the break-in period. When you guys got your truck new did you experiance the same issue. I was reading that mpg goes up after 1000k, but i havent seen the mpg this low on previous posts. Im sure its been asked before, but if i could get some imput that would be great.

It can depend on how u drive I got life mpg 16.4 because when I do drive in city it gas it and I do a lot more highway right now so it depends I have jus over 10k miles

Give it some time. My mileage has been the same since day 1, but my truck had 400 miles when I bought it. I'll bet it gets better.

I'm close to 1000 miles and my avg says 18.5 mpg (no long highway trips, just back road commuting and some stoplight action, but certainly not city commuting).

I'm driving it normal, like all the traffic surrounding me. If you hotrod it you mpg will plummet.

Ya that's why my mileage is down cause I gas it a bit and the place I live at there's stoplights every half mile

Heavy foot = low milage. Put up the fuel efficiency gauge, and see the affect of your technique. My mpg had improved with some behavior modification.

Also, I put a tonneau cover on, and it had a shockingly good impact on mpg. Highway driving, I I'm getting an average of 27mpg. Your results may vary, but the covert is paying for itself pretty quick. Bigger impact on highway than surface roads, but the overall average is up by about 10%, which is as advertised.

I have had mine for 7000 miles so far. I get 21.5 on the highway at 65 mph, faster speed does eat at the mileage a bit. Strictly city driving I average about 14 mpg unless I use a heavy foot. But my '09 Lariat with 5.4 got about 10-12 in town.

An average of 27mpg? Come on! No way

+1

I can get that when going down a hill, but sustained? No way. That's the same mileage as my Corvette on the highway and it's just idling in 6th gear, and has crazy aerodynamics compare to an F150.

My wife averages wayyyyyyyyy less than me. Driving style is a big thing. It has 365 HP even being a v6. It makes that HP way down low, and can use a lot of fuel with out revving high in the RPM band. I can tool around my small town and average low 20, my wife will take it for the day and return it under 16.
