MY real world mileage 5.0 XLT 4x4 supercab
This is my mileage. I know this subject has been beaten to death, but it is useful information for those who care about such things.
First shows the last 300 or so miles.
Second shows past 1000 or so miles.
I drive the same route 5 days a week. There is not a lot of stop and go. These mileages reflect approximately 80% highway driving at about 60 MPG average.
The last 300 miles were on a different brand of gas. I am not sure, yet, but it appears that this gas yields superior mileage. I am driving exactly the same way. It could be that winter blend is on its way out. Maybe it has been a bit less windy. Anyway, I'll experiment a bit more to be more sure.
If it's hard to read, my truck has just over 3000 miles on it. First image: 21.8 MPG. Second: 20.4 MPG. These are reasonably close to hand-calculated values.

That's great mileage for a v-8 but 60 mph is a tad too slow for a lot of us who have 70 mph speed limits. Something terrible happens to mpg when you hit 65+ mph. I'm guessing your overall mpg would drop by at least 1 to 1.5 mpg if you bumped your highway cruising speed up to 65 mph. But either way, that's great mpg for a v-8 full size 4x4 truck!

It is for the better MPG and the nicer scenery that I take the highway rather than the interstate.
Averaging 70 MPH, I drop down to 18 or 19-ish (I haven't tested that extensively, thus the "ish").
Your point is why it is necessary to note the conditions of your driving when noting MPG. I hate it when someone posts an image of 35 MPG over four miles. That doesn't mean crap.

You can see the details of my truck in my sig line. But these are my numbers for this past week.
This pic is almost exclusively hwy miles, but does include about 100 miles of city driving over 3 days, with hwy speeds of 62-68mph with the cruise set and very little traffic. The trip down had zero traffic and slightly lower speeds (62-65). I noticed a drop anytime I crept over 65. The trip back we encountered a bit of traffic, but not much. Had to pass approximately six cars, and had to step the speed up a little to keep with the flow (65-68mph).
The terrain was probably about 40% rolling hills, 40% flat, and about 20% between rolling and mountain hills. The coldest temp was -20F and the warmest of 33F. There were three mornings of idling while warming the truck up (approximately 30 minutes total; 15 minutes the first morning, 5-8 the following two mornings.
In the end, I am extremely pleased with the truck's performance. Even though our little 4Runner can get about 21-23mpg, I had rather have the room, power, and comfort of the F150.

I was one happy camper on this trip. I am even more stoked about my truck than I was before.

Great mileage. I have a 2012 FX4 and my current tank average is mid fifteens. My drive is rural back roads and interstate speeds of 75 to 80. I live in WV so there are no flat stretches of roads. I am actually happy. My wife's 03 Expedition with 5.4 gets 12-13 in same driving. My last 7.3 excursion averaged 14 in same driving. I have reset mileage indicator and ran straight interstate at 70 mph and my display read 17 for the stretch. We will be taking a trip to Florida this summer and I will get a true trip mileage report. I also have a 5.0 btw.

I wish I could get those numbers! The best tank I have ever had is 18.3 MPG cruising at 61-62 MPH for about 200 miles. That was strictly highway. It gets 15.5-17.0 consistently with mixed highway and city. Don't know how you guys doing it getting 19+ mpg! Truck currently has 9200 miles on it

my lifetime average according to the dash display is 17.2mpg over ~2300 miles. Reality is closer to 16.2 but it has been climbing.
Not many places around here without hills.

Excellent results to OP and it is very true the comment about needing to outline how you got to those numbers: hwy/city, tempurature, mph, etc etc.
One problem though... what gears do you have?
Again congrats 20+ mpg over 1000 miles is great!
