My 5.0 horror story
I bought my F-150 back in Jan. 2012. Sometime in May my check engine light came on. Misfire cylinder 7. The dealership reset the light and said they couldn't recreate the issue. Two weeks later the light is on again (same code). This time they changed out the plug and coil pack. Two weeks later I get the same code again. They flash the computer. The fourth time I took it back they contacted Ford. They said that it was a bad fuel injector. Two days later I took it back for the fifth time. This time they discovered cylinder 7 was full of anti-freeze and water. Between Ford and the dealership it took about 3 weeks to get a new engine. I got the truck back on 6/11/12, on 6/12/12 the check engine light came on again with the another misfire code. I am so frustrated with Ford at this point. To make matters worse someone managed to hit the rear end of my truck while it was parked at the dealership yesterday. For a new truck it has spent almost 40 days at the dealership. Beyond that Ford's customer service just sucks! Currently working with Ford on the buy back program. What a nightmare

yeah New York's lemon law requires me to participate in Ford's buyback first. Depending on the out come, I can then file a claim through the states Attorney Generals office

Sorry to hear about you're misfortune, but this process is like pulling teeth for any auto manufacture nowadays due to all the bean counters in the corporations now. It sounds like you got a bad one, hopefully Ford will eventually make it right. I hope my Ecoboost doesn't develop a misfire in cylinder #7

You wouldn't be able to just trade it for another? :O

That's generally what "buyback assistance" is. The used car dept appraises the vehicle as a used car without factoring in the reason it is being bought back. The customer then picks out a new vehicle that they like. The manufacturer then covers the difference between the trade in value, and the invoice cost of the new vehicle. (provided the new vehicle is similarly priced to what the old vehicle was).

Certainly a joke. Why is the #7 hole always the bastard child. #7 is usually the cylinder that goes first in the LS world as well.
So did the motor pop or did they just find antifreeze in the cylinder? It seems if you didn't pop the bottom end, they'd just replace the head gasket instead of the entire motor???
