hello all..im considering the 40944...now if one day i decide i want duals..Y'ing out of the 3" tip with 2.5's would that effectively make it 5" out because 2.5x2 is 5..please correct me if im wrong.. thank you.

ps. current thought is replace to all 3" pipe from y off headers into the 40944 with stock pipe out the rear

the cross sectional area (ignoring material thickness) of a single 3" pipe (inches squared) is 7.1. Dual 2.5" pipes results in 9.8. A single 5" pipe would be 19.6. So dual 2.5" pipes is definitely not the same as a single 5" pipe. Dual 2.5" pipes would have the capability to be less restrictive compared to a single 3".
