Most miles on an ecoboost.

Just hit the 70,000 mi. mark this week. Glad I found this post cuz I was just thinking about what I should do in the next year or so. Love my 2011 EB but I drive lots of miles - about 20,000/yr. I was mulling over the thought of paying it off (4 years left), by then it would have about 150,000 miles and I could sell it and use that money to put down on a new one. Or... I can run it another year and sell it before it hits the 100k mark. Haven't had any issues on it whatsoever, really love the truck, just didn't know how dependable these engines would be at high mileage marks. I'm to the point where I want to start doing some more mods (lift, 35" mud tires, tune) and don't want to spend all that money if I'm going to sell it next year...

There was a fleet report that at least one out of three ecoboosts with 80-100k miles had a timing chain stretch or break issue. How come few to none of the regular members with 90-135k are having the issue?

It does question that credibility. And that poster showed up out of nowhere it seemed. I am approaching the scary 36 k mile mark. Lol

Not mine but a guy I work with has 125+ on his 2011. I've talked with him and he said he hadn't had any issues at all with it and it also sees a lot more idling time than a typical truck as well. He said his only disappointment with it was he had expected it's fuel economy to be better than he's experiencing (when extended idling isn't going on of course) otherwise he's happy.

Also the duratec 3.5 that the ecoboost 3.5 is based on has been out now for 7 years. I have never heard of this issue out of them. Timing chains are not something that I think would be different between the two motors. Or even that and the duratec 3.7.
