Default 1 year Review on my 5.0

Today marks one year Ive had my truck. I bought it 11-11-11 (Which when I told that to my girlfriend she immediately asked what day our first date was. To which I had no reply. But that's a whole other story)

Anyway, almost 16k on the truck now averaging 20mpg with the help of my grandma driving style, long interstate trips, and light towing. T

The good:
Amazingly comfortable ride on short and long trips alike. Lots of room to stretch out. Feel incredibly safe to carry other peoples kids and my future kids unlike my previous 06 Focus.

MPG- Amazing for a full size truck! Hurt for a while coming from my Focus but having piece of mind makes it okay.

Power and capability- Probably haven't even used 50% of what the truck can do. But I'm confidant that anything that comes up in the next 15 years will be taken care of with this truck.

Technology- Had my issues with sync. But works 99% of the time as advertised and I would never have another vehicle without something similar.

The Bad- Need to stretch for things here. But...
-Thin sheet metal. I'm sure I'm gonna have a dent in it soon.
-Couple rattles and vibrations that look like fairly easy fixes once I have time.
-Sound system. Not even going into this one...probably biggest let down for me.
-The fact that I might have to sleep into it tonight unless I figure out that damn first date!

Other things- Transmission is great, no shudder or super hard shifts or anything weird that people have been experiencing. Headlights are more than adequite unless you're comparing to them to projectors or other high end models. EPS is fantastic! Love how it tightens up on the freeway but can throw it into a parking space with one finger on the wheel.

If I had to do it over again. Same truck, more options like back up camera and a few other things. I plan on handing this truck over to my kids when they get their license whenever that day comes. Can't say enough about how much I love my truck!

Sound systems fail in all vehicles. Even my Infiniti. Glad you like your truck. Gives me hope of liking mine.

My 5.0 turned 1 year last month, great truck and motor.
I agree the sound system isn't that great. I have the bad driver side front speaker issue, but its very intermittent. I'm going to have it fixed or replaced on its next service. I keep playing with the thought of upgrading all the speakers to something aftermarket, but while its still under warranty I might as well have Ford front the bill for the fix, then at some point after the warranty is up the stock speakers might "accidentally" blow one day forcing me to get an upgrade .

It'll be a year for me in a couple days (the 14th). I love mine. Still having some issues with sync but I've only had it to the dealer once so I hope next time they'll just replace the module. Other than that I have no complaints. I'm used to factory speakers and tires blowing so I've already upgraded both.

My F150 turned 1 TODAY! (11-12-12). I really feel about the same as you do. Great truck, great ride, plenty of power, has handled anything I've thrown at it. Great technology. SYNC also works flawlessly for me about 99% of the time.
I am VERY pleased with my gas mileage so far. I averaged almost 22 on a trip to Charlotte, N.C. Around town I get anywhere from 15 to 17.5 average. I've only put 8500 miles on it in a year.
So far, I have put a dent on the rear drivers side floor (where the door opens) from dropping a chain saw. You can only see the dent if the door is open. No biggie.
The rear passenger door is just a TAD out of alignment. You can feel it when you close the door. Came like this from the dealer. I haven't taken it to them to correct, yet.
The truck burns a little oil. I've added maybe 2 quarts in the 8500 miles. I've only done 1 oil change and one tire rotation, and did it myself.
I just put SilverStar Ultra bulbs in the headlights, and can see a small improvement.
So far, so good! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with the concerns about the stereo. It is sad how crappy the speakers are. Does anybody know on the top of their head what size the door speakers are?
