Livernois vs 5Star

Nope..
They both have great performance.. they can both tow, have great functionality and durability and reliability.. its just that if you want that great all out speed you spend a little more. Only difference is livernois runs a little faster and you change tunes when you tow.

as posted in the 5 star review thread as well,,,
i finally filled up with 93 octane...ran it for one evening playing and man does it rock!! But, today, from a dead stop, i stomped it, and it broke loose, spun but did not shift into 2nd!! i left off when i heard the limiter kick in...looked at the dash, and i showed to be in 1st...i stopped again..put in park, turned engine off, and restarted..launched it a cpl more times the same way, with no problems..will probably call mike tmrw and see what he says..also., on the 87 tow/perf ..there have been a cpl times with the traction cntrl on or off, it feels like it cuts the power near the end of 1st gear while getting on the throttle pretty hard...i will discuss with mike tmrw and see what he says..i also had a few instances on f pinging (spark knocking) ...that was right after the fill up..i filled up with 35 mile to empty..and filled the tank...so i cant see where it could be an issue of the octane level..have driven quite a bit over the last few days so i could provide more feedback

I was looking over the Livernois wishlist thread and had me wondering about the Livernois V2 tune shifting. Is the V2 shift points better than the V1 in normal driving or are they the same?
With normal acceleration in the 5* perf/tow and performance only, it shifts to where you will never be under 1400 rpm's after shifting to the next gear. All of the other tunes I have driven will shift too soon leaving you as low as 1100 rpm's in the next gear with some of the tunes. This really annoyed me because it made the truck feel sluggish for a brief instant until it got past 1400 rpm's and built up enough boost. The 5* is also set to shift at certain speeds. For example, my truck will not shift from the 5th to 6th before 50 mph no matter what I do. I can accelerate all the way to 48 mph and let of the throttle to make it up-shift and it still will not shift to 6th gear until it gets past 50 mph. In tow/haul mode shifting from 5th to 6th is moved to around 57 mph. Another aspect that I love about the 5*and is different from what I remember of my friends V1 tune is the down-shift. The 5* will usually down-shifts around the same speed it usually up-shifts in normal acceleration. If you let off the throttle at 60 mph to coast, the truck would down-shift from 6th to 5th at around 50 mph, and from 5th to 4th at around 37 mph. Down-shifts in tow/haul mode would be at higher speeds to slow the truck and trailer down. Most of the other tunes would stay in 6th all the way down to as low as 40 mph and made the truck feel really sluggish when getting back on the throttle.
From what I remember, V1 did none of these things so was wondering V2 was different. I would ask my friend but he traded in his EB for a new SD to keep up with Jones' at work before V2 came out. I am just wondering if it still shifts the same and am not trying to start a flame war.

Fuzz ever figure out what the issue was with the tune?

per Jakeman68 "This is an adaptive learning transmission. I had a similar thing happen to me. If you just loaded the tune and held it wide open it doesn't know what is what yet. Just let it learn a few times (like a few 3/4 throttle runs) and it will be just fine."
I havent had time to call Mike as work has been crazy..will update when i do tho...
