Livernois Tuned 5.0L F150

I said this in the infancy of tuning after seeing the SHO vs mustang 5.0 videos. I would still love to see it since the 5.0s whp gain is only half of what the EB is but it's trap speed gains are double that of the EB. Apparently the results would suprise everyone.

I think part of the big gains with the 5.0 rcsb trucks is because of the lighter weight.......meaning, you will not see the huge gains (stock to not stock) in the heavier trucks that you see in the lighter ones. I think this is because of the torque curve (or relative lack therof) that has a harder and harder time overcoming the additional weight, resulting in less gains. This also may be somewhat why the EB gains don't seem as dramatic, because that big torque curve is basically an over achiever already.
Also, gears most deffinately CAN add mph in the quarter, especially in a N/A application. If the vehicle runs through the trap outside the power curve, the trap speed will suffer, but changing the gear so that the vehicle is running through the trap within or slightly past the power curve will pick up trap speed (sometimes significntly) without any increase in power.
I bet the truck in question ran about 102 mph though, not 107.....

Does anyone think the main difference in trap speed between the two motors is because the eco's are running the full length of the track in 4WD? My 5.0 consistently lost 6-8 tenths when I would run it in 4WD as opposed to 2WD. I honestly believe this is a factor in the difference of trap speeds of the eco as compared to the 5.0. The stock ecoboost truck has to launch in 4Hi to get it's best 60' time and 1.9's is what I have been seeing from the eco crowd. That's pretty incredible for a heavy SCREW truck. I'd almost bet the ecoboost loses most of it's steam at the 1/8th mark. At higher speeds, the 4WD assembly still pulling takes it's toll on the trap speed IMHO. It sure did on my 5.0 truck ... timeslips show it ... and so do the vids. I was beating nearly every vehicle I raced off the tree and they'd blow by me near the 1/8th-mile mark.
When launching in 4Hi and switching back to 2Hi under load, the change does not occur, though the display says it does.

That would be awesome! Maybe Rick can make this happen?? Great gains for just an intake, tune and gears.

The 5.0s are magic!
Lol........... nice gains as always Rick.
I like the analagy early in the thread where someone compared a lightened 5.0 rcsb to a fat turd city bus Ecoboost.... Funny but true in a lot of cases.

This thread really makes me want to do the gears in my truck. I know the 3.31s are hurting me. The only problem is I don't see myself running drag radials anytime soon and the 4.10s I want would just leave me spinning on the line.
