You've got to set a limit at some point. I was on the site with my debit card ready to spend the $600, but with tax & shipping pushing it up to $650 (I'm in Michigan) I just couldn't stomach it for a device that will only carry one tune. I decided to wait for other options, sometimes the little things matter.

The price of shipping is ridiculous. I buy supplements every month at 20+ lbs packages for 3 day shipping is 8 bucks. You forget about the cost once it's tuned but it's definitely steep when making the purchase.

I think the point of the topic is that when there are $400ish tuners on the market and people are buying your $600 tuner is it so much to ask to throw your customers a bone and eat the $10 to $15 of shipping (if it even costs that much with a business account doing bulk shipping)? Not that its a big deal to me but I do see the point some are trying to make with the shipping costs and wanting group buys etc...

This is what I've gathered from Livernois so far based on questions asked and Livernois' responses:

consumers: "Why charge so much for your tunes?"
Livernois: "Because we can."

Consumers: "Why charge for shipping?"
Livernois: "Because we can."

Consumers: "Can we get a discounted group buy going?"
Livernois: "Nah, people are buying them at the current price so we see no need."

......Cool

That's kinda how I feel. I can easily afford this, but feel they should be offering a discount to the forum members since they're on here for profit. It's our forum, not the vendors... so contribute to the collective.

I think Livernois paid to have vendor status. That pays for their entry into the forum to advertise. It also helps keep it free for the rest of us.

If the unit is too expensive, then by all means: get a cheaper one and sacrifice half the gains. This is all part of capitalism. KEM is trying to get $1000 for theirs and haven't even released dyno sheets on the 93 tune. So, $600+shipping isn't even the most expensive one.

Yes vendor status does cost them money although I am not sure they are a vendor here are they? Most, including myself, are NOT complaining about price. I think it is probably worth every penny and from what I am reading on this forum it is the best tune out there. Also Rick keeps tabs here multiple times a day which speaks volumes to me about how great their customer service must be. He gives direct honest answers to all of our questions. We are not "entitled" to a discount or anything but free shipping for a $600 item would be nice. Hell I recently ordered nfabs for my truck and place I bought them from matched an online price and shipped them for free. Box was 10' long and weighed close to 80lbs. Rick and Livernois have my business no matter what once I get my money saved up.

Free shipping would be nice, no argument. It is NOT a deal breaker though. The multi-tune thing might come around since SCT has ecoboost firmware for their device, that's what Livernois uses for the SHO.

Exactly. It would be nice for them to throw the customers some sort of bone....free shipping would be a very minimal loss for them. Not even a loss....just a little less profit.
Hell when I ordered my rims for my truck the online store I bought them from beat the local tire shops' prices by $60 a rim plus they shipped the rims for free to my door step.

Its just a bit of a bummer hearing their responses that have been basically saying "nah, we're good....but thanks for asking."
