I love turbos and my last car was turbo (STi) But when I think of trucks I want that V8 growl..not something that sounds like ****...Maybe if the Eco boost was a boxer engine then I would want it...My truck is utility not a racer...My last car was the race car...no track here for the truck...IDC how fast it is.....My STi would run circles around both.

Now that the pension and 401K are finally up-to-par, the 5.0 is plenty fast and I loooove the power. Not gonna' make the mistake fo turning the truck into a money pit, like I did with my race car. Very satisfied with the 2011 5.0 I currently have ... 2014 CTS-V Caddy in the works. Too old to think anymore about going 11's in a truck. I love my truck because it's a F-150!!! 5.0 (for me) is the icing on the cake.

I went with the 5.0L engine on my 2013 Super Cab LTX and do not regret it one bit. I get just about 14.5mpg while towing a 23' boat and got an ave of 21.5mph on a 500 mile round trip to northern part of the state. The engine does not 'strain' while towing compared to my former '06 Sierra that had a 5.3L engine. The 6 speed tranny probably is the reason for smoother towing as GMC had 4 speed gear box. The Eco Boost engine probably would tow a little bit better but would not really matter. My biggest concern was the EB engine overheating and powering itself down. If you're towing and suddenly lose power you're an instant traffic hazard.

I cain't decide! I'm still in my '02 5.4 SuperCrew. I've driven the 5.0 one short time, 3.7 same, and yesterday for first time, the Ecoboost same short drive. Man, I want all three!! Now wouldn't that be the ticket! But, my gut is telling me to get the 5.0! As long as the spark plugs won't be like my 5.4! Still loving this truck, but hankering for a new one... I move slooooow, very slooooow.
