Noodling at 50mph on the flats can yield some big numbers, here's a few miles right after a fillup with 100% gas (rare in IL, found some in southern WI)

And we have something like 50 miles of construction on I-90 towards Chicago with a speed limit of 45mph. I just kinda found myself behind an 18 wheeler going 50mph and went over 30mpg for half an hour. Man that was sweet! It's like the whole box was green.

Yeah that's easy to do when cruising at a speed like that. I could probably get 30mpg at a constant 55mph (2wd reg cab)

I think some of you all are confused.

This isn't about showing off a Distance till Empty (DTE) number >500
It's about having driven >500 miles on a single tank of gas.

Resetting your trip gauge at the top of a mountain and then coasting down to show off a big DTE number is not impressive.

Since I live in Canada and do the metric thing the DTE only goes up to 999 km. Would it have killed Ford to put an extra digit on the display!!!

Anyway drove 180 km on a full tank and the DTE said 997. So with a little math that gives 731 miles to empty. Love the 136 liter tank.

My current tank is at about 480 miles having used 19 gallons. I'll be sure to take a picture after my round trip to school tomorrow. (Another 80 miles)

At 24-25 MPG when I refill it shows 575-600 miles DTE. If I can keep my mileage up for the rest of the tank, I should be able to get 600 miles. But I always refill at 1/4 tank, which I'm at now. I'll snag a picture when I fill up tomorrow to show my 500+ tank, with a fresh shot of DTE.

About three gallons left, I could have gotten 600 miles out of it. Woulda been running on fumes, but it woulda done it.

Well boys, another interesting F150 thread. I just love reading all this mess. Being a geezer, I'd have never thought we'd be getting 20 and better mpg!

I've tried to do that and I haven't been able to, if you can get your DTE to read some insanely high number I'd love to see it.
