No I just turn it off. It will disengage when you let go. I've always done it, mostly so I wouldn't forget and try turn off the drag strip with it on.

I've always wondered this because I always shift out of 4wd after launch and it always grabs second gear on the right rear because I don't always lock it in. I also feel it disengage too, maybe I'm imagining things too

Could someone explain whats going on here? I see a truck shifting out of 4x4 during a hard acceleration, then some movie stuff completely not related to the video at all, a section of video with the replay of something over and over and over, more Vietnam flashbacks, AC/DC playing, then 5.88 or something??
