Well I stopped by today and they had my truck running and ready to put the hood back on. Boy did it sound smooth! I'll pick it up tomorrow after they take it on a few test drives to make sure everything is put together correctly. The mechanic took it out on a 15 mile drive and called me to tell me so far so good. So far no knocking, and I'm sure not expecting to hear it again.

3 weeks, but my dealership is really small and only has one highly trained tech.
I got my truck back today and so far so good. It runs really smooth and really strong. Its now a 2011 truck with a 2013 short block. Now I'm gonna work on getting those first 1500 miles and get my oil changed. Glad to have my truck back!

Congrats! Don't forget to watch the oil consumption within the first 1000 miles in case you have one of the 5.0's that eat oil like crazy while breaking in!

Default 2011 F150 FX4 5.0 with engine knock

I have the same issue with my engine knocking. I had it in 3 times before the bumper to bumper warranty expired. The Ford Service department a two different dealers told me they didn't hear it. I now have 44k miles on it and it happens more often. I have a video now that I am going to take with me to the dealer next week. Yesterday the blend door started clicking behind the dash as well. I love this truck, but I am not happy with the quality right now.

Clippers, Did the short block solve the problem?

Send me your info in a PM, jim.wright; I'll get your regional customer service manager involved so they can help. Be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealer in your message. I'll do the rest!

Jim, you have a powertrain 60k warranty that covers the engine. Gmc350, customer service treated me very well when I needed to get my back glass replaced.

It would be great if you could post a video of the new motor running from say the wheel wells. I have a slight tap that goes away 90% when warm. Just would like to hear a brand new motor running up close to compare.
