How common is the 55MPH shudder?
Hello. First post from a long time lurker. I am the owner of a Tacoma and looking to go full size. Not a huge fan of the Tundra, wouldn't buy a Dodge or a Chevy ever, so that leaves me with pretty much one option
I want a 2011+ Screw 5.0. The only problem that I've consistently read enough about with this truck is the 55MPH shudder. It seems fairly prevalent and from what I've read on here Ford hasn't offered a fix yet.
So, knowing how forums are a magnet for people who like to complain, I realize this poll wont be completely accurate but I just want an idea how many of you guys have the issue vs those who don't.
Thanks in advance!

It's not fairly prevalent at all. What you're seeing is a very small percentage of people that own these vehicles that come to a forum to ask about problems they are having. By no means does this forum or any other forum compose a significant portion of the ecoboost populace and everything that you read on any web based forum needs to taken with a grain of salt.

Reading about an issue on the forums actually makes people go look for things wrong with their car. Things they would never have ever noticed if someone did point it out to you.
All that said, I have the ecoboost and no 55+ shudder here. Happy as can be with my 2011.

I don't have a single problem with my 2012 and can say it's hands down the most powerful, most fuel efficient, and best looking half ton truck or any truck available for that matter. You have to put into perspective how many trucks were sold and how many people are members on this site. So even if 100+ have the shudder on this site, That is honestly nothing compared to how many trucks are out there running perfectly problem free. But I do feel for those people that do have it. It doesn't sound like a very fun thing to have.

Inebriated 4 ur safety
I thought the same too until I spoke with the OP of this thread(https://www.f150forum.com/f38/2011-5...le-fix-128636/). His signature says 2012 EB, but the 2011 he is referring to in the thread was a 5.0L that got traded for the EB. If you read through the thread, you will find other 5.0L owners with the issue as well.

'12 5.0 owner here with almost 16k on the odometer and no complaints at all. I guess my only complaint would be having to use a step ladder to check the oil.

Thanks for the positive responses. I guess it's just a matter of a good test drive. :P
57Hippie, I've found that Tacoma is less than smooth in terms of driveline vibes and what not. Is the F150 smooth comparatively? I test drove a Tundra and it was like butter.
