hey I have a 2012 fx4 with the 5.0 and I have a check engine light on with a p0455 code then I took it to a dealer and they said it's the canister purge valve and they're trying to charge my $760 to replace it. I don't have that kind of money right now. Has anyone dealt with this? If you have please tell me if what the dealer told me is true and how did you fix it yourself.

The full list price of that purge valve is $47.85, but you can find it online for roughly $25. It calls for 0.8hrs to replace it, at $115/hr that's $92 plus the $48 for the part for a grand total of $140 plus tax.

At $760 something else is included or they are some of the worst thieves I've ever heard of. Double check and make sure that the $760 doesn't include additional repairs, and make sure it is definitely the purge valve they are recommending replacing for that price.

It's probably something you can replace yourself in 15 min for $25 it's that's all you need.
