Heavy towing with eb
Hey guys just about to purchase a 2012 f150 crew cab xtr 4x4 with the heavy tow package and the eco boost. I have a 2006 dodge ram 3500 dually that blew a tranny out in Saskatchewan that i want to pick up snd bring back here to Ontario. Truck weighs about 7700 pds, and im either hoping to put it on a trailer or find a heavy duty dolly. The trip is about 3600 kms. Should I be worried or should i just not even attempt it?

With the EB and max tow package, you should be good up to about 11,300 lbs! So I would say you would be just fine as long as the truck your pulling plus trailer weight doesn't exceed that number (personally I like to stay a littler under the limit myself). Just be careful and learn the truck before taking on that kind of load! The EB will surprise you when towing, so don't forget you are actually towing something!

The truck is capable, but you will be getting up close to the max if indeed you have it on a trailer. May want to get a few miles on her before working her that hard.

I would think about renting a truck to tow your old one home or borrowing a friends. Don't get me wrong, I would still by the new one, but I would not tow that heavy load with a brand new truck that is not broken in. Besides, you can put that strain on someone else's truck and then get home and hop in your brand new truck and appreciate it.
