Good/Bad Experiences with Ecoboost Tunes
I wanted to start a thread for people to post short, to the point, responses on whether they have had positive or negative results with tunes.
Please include the company behind the tune and any relevant information.
I would like this thread to be a resource for those debating on tuning their ecoboost's.

I'll preface this by saying this truck gets no ethanol 91 octane (Shell) and nothing else. I could feed it 94 but it's a blend, so eff that.
SCT Canned 91 - couple months with the tune yielded the typical p050e code. No problems, just an annoyance. Truck runs wonderfully. Good response and reduced lag. Tons of power.
SoCal 91 Hot - Hair trigger throttle. Zero lag. Pulls hard from idle to redline. Significant increase in power beyond the canned 91. Tune can be dangerous depending on your driving/attitude, but suits me to a tee. Noticeable increase in turbo volume.
In a word - love it! Waiting on the newest psycho-tune from SoCal.

Boostedlimiteds truck is proof these things can take anything and begg for more.
I have been tuned since I had 400 miles on my truck, and it hasn't missed a beat.

Running Socal 93 and 91 level 5h. You have to experience it first hand to understand what it does to a 6000 pound pickump. It makes me come up with excuses so I can just go drive it. They best thing about, is he can tailor it to your likes and driving style. I paid 5 grand to put a supercharger on my old denali to get results that weren't this good. This was 500.00. And when ever he comes up with something better, I get it, free. 100% satisfied.

Livernois 87 tow, 87 Perf, 89 tow. Run for about 32,000 miles. No problems, just no excitement plus flat spots and bogging when trying to accelerate from cruise the same as stock. I did try the LMS 91 tow and the performance was awesome, but didn't want to be married to 91 octane at a .40 premium.
SCT canned tunes were stronger than stock, but felt stock unless given significant throttle. A little smoother than the LMS.
SoCal 87 Perf knocked my socks off. Very strong and very responsive. Same for the 91 octane Perf tune. Throttle response and shifting can be customized to your liking.
SoCal 87 Level 5 was the first SoCal tune I tried. While I giggled over the responsiveness, it was just too responsive for me as a daily driver. The 87 Perf was more to my liking.
SoCal 87 and 91 Tow tunes. Very strong with good response, but not as snappy as the performance tunes. All SoCal tunes have fixed the stock turbo lag, flat spots and pulsing. Ford should hire this guy to make their trucks run better.
If all I wanted to do was get down the quarter mile, both the LMS and SoCal tunes are a good choice, but SoCal has a big driveability advantage.
The only issue I have now is that all of the SoCal tunes would put me in the ditch during the winter, so I will probably go with the SCT canned 87.

I've got at least as many tuned miles as SkiSmuggs but more racing than towing probably. I've been LMS tuned nearly the entire time with a 2 day stint with Socal.
LMS 93 tow- silly smooth and a little added power. Great daily drive tune
LMS 93 (perf, v2,v10)- rides like stock until you mash on it. Weird flat spots at fullThrottle and strange 3-4 shift under light throttle with beta v10, haven't tried current version. Fastest tunes out until Socal puts up numbers.
Socal 93 Hot- super touchy throttle, turbos barking and driveshaft clanging from a stop due to throttle sensitivity
Socal 93lvl5- still sensitive throttle and weird turbo blowoff at part throttle
Socal 93 performance- this is less sensitive than the other two and a pretty good daily drive tune overall
If you want maximum tuning and the ability to get your boost to the moon Socal is the way to go. I might be the only one that didn't like the super sensitive throttle. Be ready to log to get it right.

Tried the canned sct 93 tune. It worked well enough, with a big boost in power especially at high rpm. It also gave it actual wot. Drivability was stockish except for harsh shifting.
Now I run 5star 87 or 93. Very happy with these tunes, as the throttle response, lag, shifting, and torque converter locking are vastly improved. Wot feels about the same as sct. My only complaint is that it won't pass the computer scan if your inspections station does that, because it never allows the ECM to register as "ready".
