Default Fuel for Ecoboost

What octane fuel do you all recommend for my new 2011 FX4 Ecoboost 3.5L V6? Regular, Premium? The Ford website says Regular is recommended, however the owners manual says it will perform better with 92 octane. Thoughts?

I run 87 everyday and 93 when I tow. Nice truck by the way! Enjoy!

a few people have reported better mileage running premium. I have not tested this yet, but the truck will run just fine on regular unleaded.

It wont hurt the truck at all to run regular, you'll notice better performance with premium though

Not unless it's hot or you are towing heavy.

Still waiting on some one to dyno an ecoboost on premium and regular unleaded and give us the results.

I would say premium. At least up here in Canada because most gas stations run pur gas with no ethanol blen in their premium.

My Canadian FX4 works best when empty on regular 0%. Premium 0% was no better and maybe a touch worse. Regular 10% ethanol is very hard to see the difference, specially when ours is stated "it may contain up too 10%".
Towing heavy in hot weather is where premium will allow the engine to maintain peak power because the computer will not have to reduce power to prevent pre-ignition under a heavy, hot load.
