Exactly! When I got my short block replaced, I went back more than once and I started to go to a independent shop, but dealer said Ford would not accept their diagnosis, so I said I am willing to pay a fee for them to go further, and that eventually lead to getting the problem resolved and Approved by the hotline (FORD) for the new short block. If a dealer is blowing you off or barking up the wrong tree you have to try another one or point them into the right direction, it stinks but its the people or person you are dealing with that sometimes are on the wrong page. I even had to be present to show them when it would knock, at partial warm up. After that they came threw perfect and I could not be happier with my dealer.

True. Ford the manufacturer is not to blame for one incompetent mechanic.

I agree, but at some point FoMoCo needs to be accountable of what their dealers are doing.
Unfortunately this seems to be a growing problem. There's a bunch north of the border that are getting more and more lazy.
When I first joined this forum it seemed Ford Motor Co. would actually crack down on dealers that would pull this BS.
Now a days it seems like head office isn't stepping in and letting dealers get away with more and more. It's a shame really.
Knock on wood my Ford vehicles have been bullet proof but if I had to deal with this crap it would put me off the brand for sure.
Different times I guess.

Ford sells vehicles to dealers not the public, the dealers are all independently owned much like any other Midas muffler or Pepboys, Walmart auto, etc,.........

By law Ford is required to provide a warranty, not provide a dealer guaranteed to have skilled tech's, that's on each dealer. In cases such as this, the op should have taken the truck to a different dealer or bite the bullet and do what he did, taking it to a shop with a competent tech.

As for small claims or any other sort of court? Not to be cynical or demeaning, your out of your mind if you think you will get any $$ back, you will spend more trying.

Lick your wounds, enjoy your truck and your new found competent technician and move on.

Minor correction to the above - PepBoys and Walmart are all company-owned to my knowledge. Midas and Ford are franchises.

I'm very satisfied with the work that my independent mechanic performed. He specializes in powertrains, and did a phenomenal job. My service advisor says the dealership is working on making things right. Who knows exactly what that will entail, but all good. Also, I went ahead and had 4.10's installed since everything was dismantled. Now that I'm out of warranty, I'm gonna lift the truck, too. ��

I had a dealer tell me it was the Driveshaft when the rear end would play catch up at a red light or stop sign. I knew what the problem was and took it in one more time and since the truck was out of the 3/36,000 (03 no 5/60,000 on powertrain) they ended up replacing everything including the carrier, axles and axle bearings for the $100 deductible. But they could definitely tell what wrong when I brought it back from the Howl when it moved. Even had to prove the 2 inch lowering in the rear corrected the bad pinion angle from the factory.
Since then I take anything requiring warranty work to a different dealer.

Did they pay 100% for the parts and repairs or only a portion?Going through the same thing ,small block needs replaced. Dealt with local dealership after 3 tries,I said screw it and took it 5hrs away to another ford dealership .I put a call in today for claims with Ford customer care.Sitting and waiting, hoping for a huge portion to be covered.
This is also a "blue certified Ford "
