Exhaust (chickened out)
Well I had an appoinment at the muffler shot to get a magnaflow muffler instatlled on my 11' Harley. I had been debating this for a while and when I got there I chickened out. I had spoken to the muffler guy (really good in our area) and as I was pulling in he said ( it sounds really good now) what system do you have? When I told him it was stock he asked why did I want to change it. Well that sealed the deal (for now anyway). I said thanks but I took his advice and didnt. The harleys sound really good stock. Compared to a Limited and Platinum they see to have a more throaty sound. Anyway I was not wanting the interior sound drone that a lot of folks have complained about. This seems to be more a 50/50 either folks love it or complain about the drone. Oh well if I ride in one and personally hear it for myself then I may change my mind but for now Ill keep the stocker I guess.

May have been a sound decision for now. The magnaflow I put on an '04 Lightning became louder over time, and actually became annoying. Of course, it may have been the style or type muffler the shop installed. Good luck on the decision.

A lot of the decision of backing out came from having one on a 06' Silverado and remembering that I sometimes wished I had the stocker back on. Ive got a relative that has a 2010 thats looking to do the same so I may just sit back and see what his sounds like.

Fyi I have a limited and removed the resonator and installed the magnaflow muffler from the raptor system. Sounds great with no resonance at all. I haven't heard a stock HD so not sure if the difference would be worth it for you or not

I bought a Platinum with the 5.0 and think it sounds great as is. I think the harley's sound pretty good stock too. If I want loud I will drive my Lightning. We tested the L with a db meter at 25 foot taking it to redline and hit 113db. It still has cats too!

The limited and the Harley have the same systems except the Harley has a dual exit vs the single on the limited. I almost bought a limited and drove one, they seem to be very close to the same sound. the dual exit gives the Harley just a little different note but you dont notice it very much unless you listen to the back to back as I did.
