Very well put...That is exactly what I am talking about...Not a big issue but I wonder what it is? It does feel like a miss or something...I don't think a lot of people would even notice it.

Don't know if OP is describing same thing that I notice, but it sounds like it. Just a slight roughness under acceleration. Most noticable under slight acceleration In engine not trans. Anyway the grill has no effect on that.

If you grill is making your truck do that, I'll eat my hat.

I only feel the rough gear change if the truck is downshifting into 3rd without my foot on the gas going down hill.

My truck sputters like that when climbing a grade and I'm accelerating lightly. With the radio and blower turned off, I can hear a Pssssh.......Psssssh......Pssssssssh sound from the engine compartment that goes in sync with the surging or shudder or sputter that I can feel.

To me, it seems that whatever is controlling the boost from the turbos is unable to modulate to just the right amount of boost. Instead, it applies all boost or no boost and to me, that is what I'm hearing and feeling.

Mine has 8500 miles on it. The mpg spiked at 17 in the city around 3500 miles and has been steadily dropping since...with no change in driving habits. There is so much soot coming out of the tailpipe that it is splattered on the end part of the bumper and it got all over the front of my travel trailer when we camped over the summer.
