That is completely incorrect. Shop around and often times the dealer is cheaper, parts wise, not always but often enough to pick up the phone and call for prices.

I remember one specific time I was working on someones truck (at the dealer) bad fuel pump, and they had called around and we were cheaper by over $100 than anyone else. Go figure.

Wow, it broke the shaft. I've never seen that before. Chances that it was caused by a slug of water?

That's ugly! I have seen diesels chew up turbines like that since EGT's can get well over 1400F, but for a gasoline V6 that's an insane amount of damage

Interesting. Looks like cracks were occurring before they vanes totally gave. Would love to see it washed up and a better photo taken.

If you're talking modified (big injectors) then yeah 2000 isn't unheard of. In stock form most push 1400 for short periods of time. It's best that they're kept under 1000 sustained unless you like replacing turbines and doing valve jobs and replacing cracked heads lol.

Sorry for the thread jack! Continue the Eco talk!

Per the Motorcraft online parts web site today, for my '11 FX4, the left turbo is $809.40, and the right one is $754.02. I'd put them on myself if one failed.
