Thanks for that vid actually good to know. As for the silencer rings I was just told about them today from one of the guys at the ford dealership. I was joking around about wanting more noise and getting an exhaust and he recommended removing the "Silencers" asked him what that was and before he could explain he got caught up. Googled it and found this thread. Still confused how those little plastic pieces would do anything for Pre-Spool lol.
EDIT: Oh Jesus, Just realized I grave dug this thread... I'm sorry before anyone throws a B**ch fit.. My Apologies.

I can end the argument
The reason people call these silencers are because now their turbos are working harder and make more noise. These help spin the air coming from the intake to make turbo more efficient, helps gas mileage also, ford wouldn’t have the cost of making them and shipping costs just for noise pollution. The 10 cents they cost to make is a big deal with the volume of trucks they make.

Just pulled mine out yesterday - super easy and yes it makes them louder. I'm not talking "wow I've got me a turbo diesel!" but a touch louder.
And if you think you're losing mpgs with this you're insane. It's all for epa noise pollution. If it wasn't, I don't think in 2014 ford would have suddenly found the way to create one mpg from ****ty plastic pieces in an intake tube.
Take em out and enjoy the cute little snails we have.
