I guess the reason I've never seen it is until yesterday the last post was in April and being new to the ecoboost I wouldn't have seen it before but now we have a new one for guys new to the ecoboost.

I like the diagram you came up with, Kudos for that at least.

And "No" they're no adverse effects to be noted. The turbos definitely sound better without them in.

Thanks for the link, but referencing a 33 page thread full of mainly nonsense and bickering with no real answers isn't that helpful. That's kind of like going to church and having them throw a bible at you saying, "here, read this, it's all in there."

Thank you to the OP of this thread by including some helpful info. Diagrams, videos, and real world experience helps.

I'll be trying this on my truck next weekend, and I'll try to post what I find.

I was just trying to help by providing the thread that EngMike was referring to. Granted, there is a lot of bickering in that thread, but you will find that in a lot of threads here and the same information is in it...this isn't rocket science. OP said he couldn't find anything, therefore, I provided some reading. Sorry, it "wasted" your time.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to take them out but to each there own I guess. It's pretty obvious by the design of them they are there to give the air going into the turbos some rotation. I can only imagine this is a benefit to the turbos and wouldn't want to take them out unless somebody could prove otherwise. Good luck, hopefully it doesn't cause any problems down the road.

Viking, these are way too far from the compressors to apply any usable amount of preswirl.

I agree with this...if you look at the plastic tubing in places its not even round so these are pretty useless.

I'm just waiting for someone to develop some new tubing(hot side).

You don't want turbulence coming into the turbos but for a regular fuel injection or carborator to get the fuel to atomize better but for the direct injection none of that matters.

It's no prob, and I thank you for at least looking it up. It's just that some people are new to this site and rather than digging up old threads, it's nice to start a new one to get fresh ideas/ new perspectives on something that had already been discussed. Personally, I hate reading a thread with 800 replies, just to catch up on what was said, and I'm sure that people that are new to the site don't want to do that either. All the back and forth in that other thread with name calling and whatnot was getting out of hand.

On a side note, my silencer rings are out. I can hear the turbos a little better, which I like. No difference in power at all on the butt dyno. I'll keep an eye on mpg, but frankly during the winter I like to ignore my mpg because it makes me sad how *****ty winter mpg is.
