2011 Ecoboost destroys a turbo.
Took the truck in for an odd cold start sound yesterday and got a call today on it. Seems as though the passenger side turbo is or at some point was oil deprived. Looks like we MIGHT have our first confirmed turbo death (on this forum). 9,332.2 miles on the clock, 100% bone stock powertrain and drivetrain. no intake, no exhaust, no tune.

I'll be the first 5.0er to chime in...I wouldn't wish that on anyone,Good luck, hope they get you fixed up and make sure they don't give you a dam Impala to drive like the guy with the locked up 5.0 had.

Man, I have a rant... Believe me.. This is nothing personal and a lot more benign as I may be coming across but...I don't understand people's big fear of turbochargers... ( not that I'm speaking about anyone specific ) but turbos obviously can- and inevitably go bad but most go tons and tons of miles with no issues what so ever. I understand the idea that if something has more moving parts (3.5eb vs 5.0) one is more likely to have issues but why the emphasis on turbos? Some guys on here with the 5.0's claim that's the major reason that they were hesitant .. The turbos. But to speak like oh it's got a turbo on it.... Just wait till they go bad is a strange outlook : end rant:

I may be in the minority of the 5.0 crowd when I say this - but reliability had zero weight in my decision when I bought...

ANYTHING can fail...period. I don't (for a second) believe that turbos are the weak link - and I don't believe that the 5.0 is any less likely to wind up in the shop.

The $1000 I saved on the 5.0 was by choice so I could justify more options.
Hope they fix your truck quick jcain.
