Bump this thread. Having a P0299 on a 2013 while towing. What we have narrowed it down to is the code requires at least 4 psi less than what it is looking for for at least 5 seconds. When under towing load and floor it at lower RPM I see around 15 psi. As the RPMs climb the boost starts dropping to around 10 psi at around 5k rpm before it shifts. When it does it trips the code (no MIL) and goes into limp until I clear the code.

This is on a stock truck and monitoring this with Torque Pro on Android. We checked on a friends 2012 and his does have a custom tune and he sees the same around 15 psi and pulls down to about 11 psi at high rpm before shifting but this was without any trailer to really load it hard.

Curious to see if anyone has updates to this problem since posting originally? We feel it is likely a boost leak and just getting into that parameter while under hard load while towing. Maybe possibly a wastegate not full closing or leaking BOV?

I'm having the same code... Looks like it's a needle in the hay stack...???

2016 Ford F150 XLT with 3.5L Eco 4x4. Truck has 83,xxx miles on it.

Replaced the driver's side exhaust manifold, gasket, and turbo gasket since it was leaking at 62,000.
Replaced the Passenger side same as above at 83,xxx and now that's when this problem started.

The shop fixed the leak, so now no more of the chirping, but it has ZERO power. Reading the boost gauge it will boost to 0.00 psi and that's it. Then when I let off the gas i hear all the exhaust gas escaping. I have the 5 star programmer in this truck, and run the 87 power/tow tune.

After the mech looked everywhere for not hooking up a vacuum line or something he thought it might be the boost solenoid on the top of the manifold that the waste gate vacuum lines run to. He doesn't have much experience with turbo's.

Any ideas? It didn't have this issue before, now all the gaskets and manifold are replaced and bam, here is this new problem.

I'm working up in the central valley of California in the middle of no where and I"m down in South County for the weekend and would really like to get this fixed. Anyone have any ideas or any shops that actually can be trusted?

Thanks in advance.

where is the BOV on these trucks? I really haven't wanted to dive into this one, was hoping with just a tune it would run forever. I have my other toy cars that require my attention, lol

On my 13 it's on the driver's side, back, bottom of in innercooler.

it's easiest to access from underneath with skid hanging from the front rubber. Take top right bolt out first, then bottom bolt that holds the chamber, then swing the bov/chamber over to get better access to the left bolt
