It's an xlt 302A package with EL 3.31 rear and 18" chrome with wranglers. I have had the average mpg to as high as 20 on a couple longer high way trips but as soon as I am off the highway it is dropping like a rock. I take off really slow, use a light foot and hardly ever go over 2k rpm. It seems as soon as I press the gas the green bar drops below the 15.8 average I can never seem to stay above. My average since ownership is 15.8 each of my 3 tanks has been the same. Feels like I am constantly pushing the pedal like there is a ton of drag. I am confused how most others are getting such better mileage. End quote!

Finally getting better 4,000 miles not taking the back roads to work and hitting the highway instead with a couple nice long highway trips peer tank my last two tank averages have been 17.5 mpg or better and now my overall average for 4,200 miles is 16.2mpg. This isn't bad since temps are still below freezing and I have been hitting major traffic jams because of sun glare.
I am not at about 53% oil life and think it is breaking in a bit.

If you drive just a few miles each day your mileage will suffer. My 2011 Ecoscrew FX4 got fantastic mileage when I was driving 900 miles per week for work. In warm months I averaged nearly 23mpg empty. Winter mileage dropped down to 21 on long trips. Towing a large box trailer...10mpg. I retired a year ago. The truck gets driven around town and I use it like most folks do. Towing in the winter now has a profound effect on average MPG because short trips around town don't offset the snowmobile trips. Since May I have driven only 10,000 miles and my average MPG is just 16. I'm still happy because up until October, I was averaging 20mpg. When hunting trips begin (towing the ATV) and then snowmobile trips start, the average MPG drops like a stone. A friend bought the same truck after he saw the excellent mileage I was getting. He commutes just 10 miles and his truck is just getting warmed up when he shuts it off. He may visit job sites during the day but it is mostly local work. The best MPG he sees is 18 driving empty in the summer. It is all how you use the truck. I am anxious for the 2015 trucks to arrive. I'll have 75K miles on mine with no issues and a trade seems likely. I'll try to get the same Ecoscrew FX4 because I love the looks, quiet operation, fuel mileage and reliability.

I have no idea what's up with my truck. No change in driving habits. I understand it's middle of winter but my normal average (last two winters) has been 15-16mpg. This winter I'm getting 13.6-14mpg. At the end of fall the best I could get was 15.5/16mpg.

No change in gas, no change in the truck besides the updated motor craft spark plugs gapped at .032". Surely new spark plugs would cause the truck to loose mpg!?

If you live anywhere on my continent, you've had an extraordinarily cold winter. Cold is bad for mileage, colder is worse.

Ahem, its my island....

Also, I wound't call it extraordinary. Its just that people forget what winter is really supposed to be like. This is normal for 20-30 years ago.

I would. It wasn't like this 20-30 years ago where I live.

If I'm not mistaken, psi-fx4 has a 2011+ truck, so mileage 20-30 years ago would be moot even if it were just as cold then.

Yeah, to date its the 9th coldest Winter ever on record in Minneapolis. Four of the Winters that were colder than this one were in the 1800's. Eau Claire Wisconsin tied its coldest Winter EVER. I get a kick out of the "it was like this every Winter 30 years ago". Um, no it wasn't haha

Its also been the 9th coldest here in Iowa, whoopty doo. Coldest winter on record here was 1978 followed by 1979 (also the case for Minneapolis). 1979 was the coldest winter on record across the country by the way which doesn't make it surprising that is was for IA and Minneapolis as well. And the difference between the coldest and warmest is all of 20 degrees (12 vs 32) here. So to say this winter has been extraordinary is a bit much. At around 15 its been below average, yes, extraordinary, not a chance.

Actually not...1978-1979 was the 8th coldest Winter in Minneapolis. In 140 years of record keeping this is the 9th coldest...I'd say that's more than below average but I guess to some its not.

Point is it was said that this was an "normal" Winter 30 years ago, and fact of the matter is its not normal at all...nothing more nothing less.
