Looks great! What was your mileage before putting it on?

It is not my truck but the average freeway speed mpg the girl that owns the truck reported before installing the aerocap was around 22 to 22.5 mpg, right at what Ford says an ecoboost should get.

My 2012 FX-4 with max tow package (3.73:1) only get 15MPG empty without towing anything on the highway at 70mph (all stock with 20” OEM wheels). I tried a lot of different things to get more MPG without any result. When I tow my 8500 pounds Travel Trailer I’m getting between 7.5 to 9 MPG at 65mph, I just come back from a 2000miles trip and did 8.9 overall, but for a short ride, I generally get 7.5 if less than an hour towing ride.
I love the truck and is power but hate the bad MPG. The truck have 5000miles now and it is like that since the beginning. I told this to the service manager and he said wait the truck will do better at 2000miles, but in fact the millage increase on the odometer do nothing.
It’s bad because I had the “demo” truck for 2 days before buying this one and did 20 to 24mpg on the highway, that convince me to buy a new one… but the new one is far away of the FX-4 demo truck.

What can I ask my dealer to look at? He already told me that he can’t do nothing, the truck is new… I want to have at least 18mpg on the highway like many other here and not 15… when I tow, I ready to pay because I know that I tow 8500 pounds so it will cost something but empty I hope for better MPG.

Any recommendation are welcome.

I’m really not driving like if I have stolen it, and yes my tire have the right pressure in it, I also have a bed cover (rollnlock). Oil was change 2500miles ago to motorcraft full syntec and see 0 gain in MPG.

This is a long shot, but how about disconnecting the battery to reset the PCM? Drive it for a few days and then try measuring it again. Also double check the MPG calcs by hand, the trip computer can be right on, or way off, only way to find out is to compare.

Has it had the intercooler TSB done/checked? If the cat is bad that would screw up your mpg.

Are you still running your tuner? If so, what tune? Did your mpg change after tuning?

My xlt with max tow and 3.73's and 18" rims is only getting 16 around home driving like a senoir citizen.Haven't been on any big trips yet.But i did get to tow my tt this weekend and mine only weighs 5k loaded and i got 9.4 one way and 9.8 the other. So it sounds like me and you are getting similar numbers.I think that's about it.

I always double check the MPG by hand and the truck calculation is right on.

When I say that I tried a lot of thing, both tuner where part of those tests. Superchips did nothing on MPG and SCT did .5 MPG better, but no one increase it to near of 18 on highway, so I'm now running stock until I find the problem. I ask Mike at 5star to look at what is wrong with my truck but he said the the log are in spec and he can't see nothing only with the file that I sent. He need to see the truck on his dyno, but I'm far away from him.

The TBS was not done, I was under the impression that this TBS was for pre 03-2012 and my truck is 04-2012, but maybe the dealer can look at it.

I have disconnected the battery cable 2 times without any result.

FYI: in town I do between 15-16 MPG, no difference between highway and town in my case. I'm ok with the 16MPG around town but not at constant highway speed.

When I go 400 miles the difference between 60 & 75 is 1.50 MPG but I save 1.33 hours. So the extra cost for me is $2.17 or $1.63 per hour (based on $3.59 fuel cost)

I have to ask myself is. Is savings vs time worth it? In my case no. Saving $1.63 per hours isn't worth it to me.

Get rid of the 20" tires.......... Good for looks bad for mileage.... When it rains mileage drops even more!
Tires are wide and to much tread on pavement.
