Well I finally averaged well over 20. 200mile round trip. Slight headwind on the way up, averaged 19.4 mostly 69-70 with 20 miles of 60-65. Way back the wind had picked up a bit but so had our weight with our new bathroom fixtures riding along. Our roundtrip mileage was 21.4 when we arrived! Same speeds both ways.

I think I'm just one of the VERY fortunate ones! It's fairly easy to get better than 20+ mpg on highway and/or back-road trips. Most of these pictures that I have were all substantiated, as best as I could manage, by figuring the mileage the old fashion way of dividing miles driven by number of gallons to refuel....

For the record, mine is a 2012 Ecoboost F150 FX2 screw cab with 3.55s on 20" wheels and stock rubber. There are ZERO mods on the truck and currently, she's sitting just above 4,600 miles...

(30 minute interval - truck was turned off, filled up by my father-in-law and then turned on again before taking this pic. I can't this mileage beyond a 10 or so mph tailwind)

Even in going out to the garage right now, and taking a pic of both trip A & B and the past 30 minute interval (verify by the SAME mileage on the odometer), here's what I get:

Here's a thread that I created a while back that is includes the first two pics: https://www.f150forum.com/f70/21-5-m...s-pics-158285/ We just really couldn't hardly ask any more out of this truck! It's beyond incredible!

Default Actual mileage

Ok when I first got my ECOBOOST I was averaging 18.5 MPG. It was wierd I could get up to 22 on the higyway, but the CITY mileage killed me. After I put on my BULLY DOG TRIPLE GT TUNER I am now averaging 20 exactly! It's tough though I drive like a grandma lol. My drive is 10 miles to work mixture of highway and city. When going 60 mph on a level highway no joke my truck can get 23-24-25. ive even averaged 25 on a couple all highway trips.

I dont know how some people are saying they average 13 and 14 unless they drive like crap. The bully dog tuner will beep at you if you drive poorly so I follow that thing to a T.

I personally tried everything and even drove like an old lady. MILEAGE STILL SUCKS. 14's . Got sick of the ecoboost and traded for a F-350 diesel. Now I get in the upper 17's and 18's. Had as high as 20.4 m.p.g. Both trucks are loaded up 4x4's. Loved the F-150 but would never get another Ecoboost. The F-150 was a Supercab short box and the F-350 is a Crewcab short box.

2011 SCREW, 5.5' bed, 3.73 Rear Axle, RWD, Ecoboost
Getting around 16 mpg with all city driving in Miami, FL, which was ranked one of the worst cities for traffic.
Took the family (5 passengers total) with luggage to Disney for the weekend. 230 miles, averaged 19.5 mpg at 74.5 mph. Pretty good considering the 3.73 rear axle.

I compare this to my previous truck, a 2008 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2, where I was getting 10 city and 16 hwy, I had 3 less lbft of torque over a much smaller torque curve, AND 2,700 lbs LESS towing capacity.

ECOBOOST ROCKS!

I also looked at dropping the EB until I got on the F250 forums to look to see what kind of problems the SD's are having and they are having many. For one, the stock shocks last less than 7000miles but Ford refuses to put on a better shock. The water filter is under engineered and is allowing, in about 1% of the engines, water to get into the fuel system and ruining the engine. Ford will not stand by the warranty for a new fuel system and the replacement costs $11,000! Bio-diesel is allowed for fuel but apparently "hangs" onto water more so than regular diesel fuel and the water is more difficult to be removed by the under-engineered filter. I know this is a F150 forum but many forum members have made the same comment, including myself, that they want to move to the SD. But I would suggest to spend a few days perusing the forums. You might want to change your mind. So I'll keep my EB until such time that maybe Ford will recognize there is a problem with some of their EB engines. Still getting 15 all-round milage, only 0.5 mpg more than my 5.4. And I don't rock and roll on the accelerator. I drive worse than an old lady, never go above 60mph on the local interstate.

If I am reading that correctly, the numbers dont add up.

373 on the clock and 101 left till empty. Thats 478 for the whole tank. Thats about 18mpg for a 26 gallon tank. If there is still 4 gallons left on empty, that nets ~22mpg.

The wife just got back from a 1300 mile round trip in her FX2 eco, 3.55's, computer is saying 21.9 mpg. Don't think I trust it. She left there with a full tank and Google says the trip is 507 miles and the truck had 147 miles to empty on the screen with 1/4 showing on the needle.

26 gallon tank, 654 miles (driven plus miles to E) = 25.1.

That might be ok but when she left to come back the screen was saying about the same 21.9mpg.

Around town it says ~18.5, computed mpg is usally .9 less. We use the remote start a lot which may explain the difference there, but not on a long trip.

It may be she squeezed in more gas and got in over 26 gallons. I wasnt there and probably wont ever figure it out.

Are you looking at instant mpg or trip A/trip B. Maybe she didnt reset the instant before leaving and it included some lower mileage trips?
