My wife is getting 19 point something weekly average on her commute to work. Mostly freeway, some stop and go. I'm satisfied, I think it's great for a truck with this much power!

For the folks getting much lower fuel economy than the numbers posted here, have you been able to do anything to improve it? Seems strange to me I get 14mpg on a normal drive while others with the same setup are getting 19-22?

It's going in tomorrow for probably more futile attempts at diagnosis. I am sure there are no codes to tell them what's broke so it's doubtful they'll fix anything. My tailpipes are getting old school diesel black inside. Seems that oughta prove something is wrong to 'em. Even when it doesn't fall flat on its face probably because of the turbo condensation problem, the truck isn't nearly as responsive in general as it was those 1st 3 months when everything was good including mpgs. When I romp on it, it bogs first and then completely overreacts, downshifts clear into 1st from 4th or 5th followed by serious tires squealing and drag racing behavior. All I "want" it to do is just downshift and accelerate damn it.

But it will be 2 of the 3 required trips for a lemon return should that become necessary. And that would be a shame because "fixed" and running correctly this truck is freakin' awesome.

Do some searching around here............. i can remember someone with the bog/faceplant problem bringing the truck in and having the dealer replace a couple fuel injectors which went bad and ended up destroying the cat converter in the process of injectors leaking causing extreme rich condition............. they replaced injectors, cat converter, re pogrammed the truck and it ran great.

Also, have you disconnected the battery and reset the computer? Definitely worth a try.

I was averaging 14.8 for the month that I've owned mine, and the other day I reset my mpg and highest I got to was 21mpg. Now its down to about 17.5. But that's with 15 minutes on the highway and a lot of stop and go city to get to class

I have just over 25,000 miles on mine.

I have the occasional hard 1-2-3 shift, tailpipe soot and less than stellar mileage.

I took it in Tuesday and got it back today. Here's hoping for the best

Screw 2WD with 6.5' bed, 3.55:1 rear end, and 20" factory wheels. My truck has climbed from 3.5 MPG since it was new to 14.4 MPG. The numbers would be well into the 15 MPG range in its first tank if not for the several cumulative hours of idling while I loaded music into the Jukebox.

Today I reset Trip B on the interstate with the cruise on at 65 and watched my mileage immediately reset to 25 - 26 MPG and watched as the mileage climbed to almost 30 MPG over the course of about 4 miles of flat land before hitting a long 2 - 3 percent grade. At the apex of the hill I had dropped back to 21 MPG with about 5 miles left in my commute home. When I pulled into the driveway, the truck had risen back to 22 MPG.

We are leaving in the morning to travel south to Disney from Atlanta; approximately 450 miles. I will report back next week upon my return and 900 miles later with lifetime and round trip numbers.
Just got in from Orlando. Approximately 450 miles each way and typically a 7 hour drive. On the way down I averaged 22 MPG until we were 150 miles from home when we rode in what was essentially a 300 mile traffic jam on our way to Disney. When we arrived the truck had stabilized at 18.2 MPG. The trip back was better considering we made 4 bathroom stops, drove from Orlando elevations to Atlanta's 1033 feet elevation driving between 65-70 miles per hour the whole way and finished with 20 MPG and about 1400 miles on the odometer. Lifetime mileage improved from 14.4 to 17.1. I am very happy thus far with mileage but more impressive is the truck in its entirety.

The secret I have found is to tip into the throttle rather than laying the pedal to the floor.

I will post pics later.

As I suspected, they found no codes and then just quit today. The service manager wants his "best" mechanic to take a look next Tuesday when he's back from vacation. They did at least agree my mileage is pretty dismal from what it should be. This tank average is only 14.9 so far - was 14.1 when I picked it up.

So, I guess I'll go back Monday evening so "the expert" can have it all day Tuesday and that will actually be the 3rd time for the same problem in case the lemon path becomes necessary. Hope not . . .
