Default Toronto to Florida mileage

Just finished a 2500 km run from Toronto to Florida with the truck packed with 4 adults and about 400 - 500 lbs of gear (luggage, cooler, tools) and I averaged 22.9 mpg (10.3 L/100km).

Keep in mind I ran into that detour on the I 75 in Tennesse where the earth is sliding down the embankment so they closed the south bound lanes. As a result of this I was in a 5 mile long traffic jam and had to follow a 31 mile detour which took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to navigate, so this no doubt hurt my efficiency. The only other delay was 35 minutes sitting in line at the Detroit border. I ran a little above the posted speed limit so most of my travel was at 120 km/h or 75 mph.

I've had better efficiency on runs, but this was a good sampling.

My truck is an Ecoboost with 2 wd, Super Crew Cab, 3.15 LSD rear and the 18" Michelins.

I'll see how the return trip goes and post those results.

Well thanks for the suggestion, but yea I did check the parking break . And that would not explain the break noise anyway.

I don't idle much, maybe traffic lights. My ratio of highway to city, is probably around 50/50. With that ratio, I am averaging about 14MPG at each fill up. Just seems low to me. My 2004 5.4 used to get 11-12 with the same driving mix.

That's not far off from what I'm getting. I'm averaging 15mpg 50/50 city/hwy driving in the winter. Not much idling. When the weather was warm, I was getting 17.5 mpg with the same route. Hwy only tanks have given me 20.5mpg, but that's the best I've seen.

k&n is fine for a n/a engine but dont use one on a turbo engine, just like acdii said, it will basicly allow your fins in the turbo to be sand blasted. If you look in the diesel world they don't recomend two things, K&N filter and canned tunes.

As for the mileage, during the summer I got over 20 consistantly but now I am lucky for get over 16. This weekend I got 17 which is the best I have had since November.

I was getting 17 Hwy and notticed a hard shift problem. So I took it in when I got it back I was getting 19.6 Hwy and 16 Town. I ran a full tank and calculated by hand.
When I keep it under 65 I can get up to 21.

Well maybe then I am not to far off from whats expected. I used an assumption of 16MPG for my ROI calculation to justify the truck. My last fill up was 15MPG, so maybe not too far off. I'm not sure how the whole winter gas deal works here in NorCal, since it does not get so cold, but time will tell. I will get the breaks checked anyway, since I should be getting that squeal from the right rear.

SSHHHH! You know that...and I know that but, ....um...now they all know that! lol. Still love the truck and it seems the mileage is getting better with time.

Though I can understand "Ecoboost Misfire" could resolve our shudder problem, I'm not sure how it solves the mpg problem?

I don't feel my truck misfiring all the time. Perhaps there's more to it once the TSB apple is pealed.

Misfire loads the engine with unfired fuel it spits it out the exhaust pipe and no power was generated..loss of power and fuel mileage...next nobodys ecoboost engine will run @100% until it gets 10,000 miles on it and if you push the envelope to early you will hurt your gas mileage, its a, baby it syndrome....you have to love your turbos and treat them with respect until they get broke in....ford motor company can take them out and beat the hell out of them and do things you and I wouldn't dare do because they have the stuff, we have only warranties to fall back on, and don't use a K&N filter the fines will kill your turbos and engine....use only OEM. by ford.. be smart or you will void your warranty in a heart beat....

Angry Poor mileage here

I have over 10,000 miles with a 3.73 rear with 20" wheels getting between 15 and 15.6 for city or highway driving 65mph with no stopping and starting and on relatively level ground (recalculates every 30min).
