I'm not getting 21 @ 70, but I think that's because my foot keeps pressing on the gas pedal fairly hard and often And I got 3.73 rear too. 300 mile trip today, 18.5 mpg. 1800 miles so far. Built 6/3.

Exactly. This is the correct methodology. To make it even more accurate, make it a two way trip, starting each reset at point a and point b. That way wind and terrain differences will even out.

If you e ever hung around any mpg forums, that is the way those guys do it. And they are vERY good at testing and figuring out what works best.

Yeah I'm in agreement here-- that's the best way to eliminate as many variables as possible. I'd be interested in starting a thread where everyone does this and uses trip meter screenshots as proof.

Yep...try http://www.gassavers.org

They have a real nice "Garage" that helps you track your mpg easily. These guys are into hypermiling...and some of the techniques can become second nature.

Default Ecoboost does not get good mileage

I bought a 2011 F-150 with the ecoboost in CA in December 2011. Got pretty good gas mileage there 21-23 avg hwy. I moved to Colorado in January got 22 mpg on my trip. A few months later I cannot get anywhere near that mileage again. I am stuck at 16.7 no matter how I drive or where I drive. I talked to Ford and of course they are mum about mileage problems, basically told me I was going to lose power because of the altitude.

In getting my truck inspected by Sheriff before going to DMV to get CO plates he said I have CA emission package which is probably the cause. He suggested I go to Ford and have them adjust the computer. I am thinking the computer would adjust itself, no?

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.

My 2011 got 23-25 highway and 11-12 towing. By 10,000 miles, lifetime avg was 19.2mpg. Then it died when I pulled out to pass. It began running again, but got 16-17 highway after that and continued to drop. By 15,000 miles couldn't get over 12-13 highway. Dealer insisted nothing wrong. Finally traded for a 2012. [A month later dealer survey called to see how I liked the repairs to my 2011?????] The 2012 got 16-17 highway out of the chute and no change by 7,500 miles. Got an SCT tuner from MorePowerTuning and went to 23+ highway (on 87Economy).
Going in for new CAC in a few days, so back to stock. I'll see what happens then and after that stabilizes, get new tunes from Mike and go back to 87E.
