I've been hearing that oiled filters on turbo'ed engines is a no no. The oil gets on the surface of the turbo and then a little dust and then little bits of evil and then a republican presidential candidate is crowned king.

That's for an oil filter, not an oiled air filter... Sorry not to be a jackass. I'm subscribed to hear what "they" say.

Yes, this is for an oil filter....

I emailed my dealer to see if there was some sort of new vehicle inspection that I should be aware of now that I have a few thousand (3000) miles on the truck to make sure all checks out...free oil change, etc. I mentioned I wanted to make the switch out of the oil that came with the truck and go into full synthetic.

Then I asked him if there was nothing offered, I would tackle the oil change myself. Then I asked him what his stance would be about warranty issues if I change it myself and kept the receipts from purchases of oil and the filter, documented the change intervals, etc. I will be interested in what he has to say.

If I don't have a free change coming my way I think I will go with this K&N oil filter along with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. I can usually find a case on sale at Farm and Fleet regularly in the mid $30's from time to time.

Looks like a rebranded champion filter to me. Which is a good filter. I think you are just paying for the name. Stick to the motorcraft filters from Walmart. They're a bargain.

Someone posted on the forum some time back a link to an independant site that dissected several brands of oil filters. They compared the filter materials, bypass valves, price, etc.

I felt that the best filter for my money was the WIX brand...can't remember the number right off the top of my head. Something like a 55475 but don't quote me on that!

Got a reply fro my dealer already and he said: "There is not a set new vehicle inspection, we do a routine multi point inspection whenever we do any service in our shop. If you decide to do your own oil and filter changes this will not void the factory warranty."

Sounds like I will be doing it myself.

Another fine example of liberal reading comprehension skills

Here is a wealth of information that actually contains information regarding the OP post http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthr...ght=oil+filter

klumb15 is correct, The K&N is manufactured by Champion, As are many other high end filters.

Looks like the Wix oil filter number is 57502. I have an O-Reilly near me. I will have to see if they have one in stock.
