Ecoboost highway buzzing noise
Hey guys,
I was driving down the highway today and heard a buzzing noise coming from the engine bay that would sound for 4-5 seconds and then turn off. It sounds kind of like a fuel pump would but louder. It would come and go, for about a total of 7 times during the 3 1/2 hour drive.
I've never heard this noise until the recent bitter cold we've been experiencing. Today it was -5 degrees all day with a 5 mph wind. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Plus my mileage was only 16.5 driving 73 mph. I assume the cold is to blame for that, I normally get 19 to 21 hwy.

I get the same noise. (Buzzing/Humming) Usually on a cold morning backing out of my driveway. It sort of sounds like the older blend door actuators. It starts when I put it in reverse with my foot on the brake and lasts for 4-5 seconds. Next time I bring it in for an oil change I'll bring it up to the service dept.

Hmmmm. I first heard that noise the other day. Sounded like a rumble strip. I would back out, minor change in rpm and it would go away. It was minus thirty. Thought it was my new exhaust system.
Do you really think its a vacumn pump?

I was driving approximately 750km (470miles) home to my parents at Christmas time and I noticed the same thing in my truck 4-5 times. My average speed was 115km/h (72mph) and it was chilly out -25°C (-13°F). I never noticed it driving back -10°C (14°F). I have only driven on the highway at this cold temperature the one time at Christmas.

2011 F-150 noise on highway that sounds like diesel truck braking
I have read the posts on this and it sounds like a fairly common problem. I am unclear on the fix and if Ford contributes to these posts to recommend how to fix?? Thank you
