To be honest, we had a vehicle that spent more time on a flat bed than it did the road. Went up to the cabin and smelled maple syrup. Yep, blew a seal on the tranny again. It had been fixed a few times. F* it! Drove the rest of the way up, drove all week, until the F*er wouldn't move anymore. Then had it towed into the dealership. New transmission dropped in and not a problem since.

I would have drove it too!

I know you didn't ask me, but I've owned both. The Ecoboost makes way more torque and gets about 4 mpg better for me. In all-out hp, I believe the Tundra has a slight edge. However, the F150 interior and ride quality are far better.

I like them both, but they serve different purposes, Eco is family vehicle, Tundra for work. 5.7 with 4.30 gears runs and sounds awesome, my boys named it the General Lee. The interior of the Tundra isn't as nice, but the overall build quality is much better. Tundra pulls on the Eco from a stop, but end up even after that, gas mileage is pretty much even also.

My lift and tires drop my mpg on the eco, tires are 74lbs each. Just wanted to clarify, as the eco would certainly do better. Both get 14mpg. Really like and am lucky to own both, and I've owned 3 Tundras and 13 Ford trucks, and my only gripe with Ford is if they could do better with fit and finish. I got used to it and adjust beds, doors, etc on my Ford's and enjoy.

People on the ford forum don't believe me, but my bone stock tundra ran 13.9 at the track and it wasn't even broke in yet. I don't think any f150 short of a lightning has done that. Add a tune and that all changes though.

I came out of a 2008 Tundra and have the exact same opinion. I would have bought another Tundra but I was tired of looking at the same old truck. They need some updating. I also really enjoy the 36 gallon tank in the Ford.

I would gladly buy a 5.7 tundra if it wasn't a circa 2007.. Trucks have come a long way in 6 years.. Maybe when the 2014 comes out I will buy it!

I traded an 07 Crewmax TRD in on my 2012. I come from diesels, so even the 5.7 left me wanting more. The eco just has more usable power to me as I don't floor my truck or race it. I like that I can set the cruise or hook up a trailer and not watch/feel the rpms jump everywhere. Just my two cents on that..

Hope the OP is up and running quickly.

FWIW, here is the response i just got from the local dealer (Alberta, Canada) regarding my truck. I have had the misfire issue for the last 20k kms or so...
"We have heard back from ford on the parts for the truck and the response we got was limited stock is being shipped from the supplier weekly, however they are working with a 3-4 week delay in backorder being released. Back orders are being filled in emergency back order date sequence. So in other words as the parts were ordered they are being sent out.

The vehicle can not be driven in the state is in right now as this concern is ongoing it is already begining to take out a coil again and will take out the cats again and I won't be able to warranty them again if they go again."

so i'm stuck driving a POS GMC with 255,000 kms on it while we wait for the parts. F'in great. Oh wait, i'll never see my truck again because this is my work truck and i'm leaving in 2 weeks... great, now i gotta go to the dealer pick up all my junk and transfer into my personal truck...

can someone enlighten me on how / why moisture in the CAC would take out a coil? or is it just a consequence of water damaging the plugs which in turn damages the coils?
