Default EcoBoost E10 Fuel

I have a 2004 5.4 F-150 and am considering trading it in on a 3.5 EB. Can you put E10 89 fuel in an EB engine? I looked at the manual it does really talk about E10 fuel. It just states that it will run on 87 and better on 91, but doesn’t address whether it will accept fuel with 10% ethanol.

According to the owners manual:
If your vehicle is not a flexible fuel vehicle (FFV), then only use
UNLEADED fuel or UNLEADED fuel blended with a maximum of 10%
ethanol.
All modern, computer-controlled autos are designed to use E10. It will move to E15 if the gov't has its way, which means more subsidies for corn growers and Brazilian sugar cane growers.

I don't know where you are, but here in Oklahoma we have gas stations what sell no-ethanol gasoline. Even though it's about 20 cents more per gallon, I use it because my vehicles run better with the no-ethanol gas.

Thanks for the reply, do you have 3.5 EB? If so what kind of MPG do you get? We do have the 87 no ethanol gasoline here however it is .10 more per gallon. My concern was running the ethanol based gasoline or even 87 in the turbochargers. I’ve had vehicles with a turbocharger in the past that required Premium.

Yup and we love it. I'm going to get into trouble soon, I already know it.

There are a few threads on here that discuss that. I read a good one the other day on a competing forum.

I would assume the computer senses the lower octane and adjusts accordingly.

E10 is regular fuel in GA, its the 10% ethenol mix most states have adopted, so the answer to your question is yes you can use E10, but not the E85 which is what is considered the flex fuel.

Time to resurrect this thread. General consensus, that I can find anyway, is that E10 may or may not increase or decrease power, mileage, shaking, and a variety of other stuff.

With that out of the way, in days gone by there was also a concern that ethanol blended fuels are hydrophilic, loving water, and the water that they bring in can over time lead to internal oxidation.

Any thoughts on this one? Should I be afraid? Not afraid? or VERY afraid?

Why is this a thread at all? Nearly every station carries only fuel with 10% ethanol. There is only one station with non-ethanol gas within 50 miles of me. That station is a mom and pop station that doesn't carry a top tier fuel so I don't use it.

I don't know where you are at, but I don't have a station within 50 miles that sells E10!
