I trust the grill shutters, 50,000 + miles not a problem, I did move the license plate, fasteners just snap into place, installed deer horns 3 sets (lots of Deer here) ! LolI trust the shutter system completely, how many trucks have averaged over 24 mpg in zero January weather, best thing ever, even diesels use covers in the winter. Thing is you want these motors running easily at 195 degree temps, why rob all that heat. Heater in the cab works better.

Because the engine runs more efficiently with a cool/cold intake charge. The January / 0 degree weather your using for your mileage reference in where it DOESN'T need a CAC.

If you do a bit of research, you will find that lovinf150 is also smurfslayer on the raptor forums. This user has proven to be mentally unstable, paranoid, and unstable. The user has zero cognitive thinking, so I would assume that this particular user is a paid defender, risk mitigator for the Ford ecoboost platform.

Thanks to all here - particularly this thread - for helping ecoboost owners. This must-do fix is a real help for the community.

Do you think it is mostly trolls trying to bad mouth this thread mostly ? Duh ! I know the hole will work, I don't approve of it myself but it will save a blown engine or other major repairs for sure and it will help an owner figure if he has a serious problem with an oil leak PCV malf into the turbo that is certain..People have all kinds of different operating conditions from the early morning mists of low lands of Florida to blizzards and 30 below conditions of North Dakota. Who knows what type of condition, maybe a freezing rain in St. Louis or drenching downpour in Indiana. Again I know it will work, I would just install a screw and drain it at home, but that is my decision and I do not claim to tell anyone what they should do to safe guard theirs except for offering peace of mind. I am certain the early EB had a poorly designed PCV system and Installing the well designed Cans can help with that. The cheap Cans are worthless with an EB, it takes the better dual systems to get the job done correctly but those take added maintenance also.

Agree, but your "screw" idea just hurts you. Keep in mind that the engine builds moisture while driving. If you leave it plugged, you are not allowing the water to get out on acceleration. If you wait to unplug it when you stop, the damage has already been done.

What was funny was that lovinf150 / smurfslayer was advocating that this was not a thing. That user had no background in anything ecoboost and could not understand the concept of using the weep hole to get the water out. Flat out thought the ecoboost could never make water.

Many have already proven there is a water/oil mix in theirs. It happens because hot oil vaper and hot air moisture combine and condense if the conditions are right in the CAC. I have a perty good idea when to check the CAC for moisture/oil mix and it is my choice but I also have a shutter system on my Ecoboost.

I’ve drilled the hole 100k+ miles ago. I’ve basically forgot it’s there. Haven’t had a hiccup since.

I drilled my CAC about 40k miles ago, 2-3 years, Absolutely zero issues since..........................Until last night, I was driving through rain for an hour and a half, rolled onto a 2 lane black top from the interstate and did about 3/4 throttle up to 55 mph when it dumped boost and started shaking. I kept trying to ease back into the throttle but wouldn't let me build boost. Pulled over restarted the truck and and the problem went away. About 15 min after the episode, and the rain was gone, I did several 55 to 80 mph wot runs with no issues.

I only have a 1/32 hole in the intercooler, and its on the incoming side of it.

The hole should be on the outlet side as the moisture in the air condenses as it passes across the cooler and collects on the outlet (driver's) side.
