No but this fix actually works. Fords "fix" was a bandaid fix.

I think you could stop at "No." So, how do you know more than Ford's engineers?

Nobody here is claiming to know more than the ford engineers. However, we don't have the same rules we have to live by. For instance, as a consumer, would you sacrifice wheel bearing longevity for an additional minuscule immeasurable fuel economy improvement? I wouldn't, but the ford engineers do.

I've drilled the hole and had 147,000 miles on my truck at the time that I did it. I'm at 149,000 and the problem still exists. The shuddering/loss of power/misfire/bucking/hesitation/clunking/slipping used to happen only at higher speeds around 70 mph in cruise control but now it occurs in every gear at all speeds and most of the time. My next move will be to take it back to the dealer to look at the driveshaft. I had this work done once before at around 120,000 miles and it seemed to eliminate the shuddering and clunking.

2012 Lariat Screw 4x4
3.5 EcoBoost 149,000 miles
Changed plugs at 86,000
Driveshaft worked on 120,000

Sometimes engineers don't want to admit there is an issue or they can't do a mod like this due to epa restrictions.

You are way past due for plugs.

A driveline has nothing to do with the engine shudder we are talking about. You might be experiencing a transmission here, or rearend problem.

You should also change out your cool packs, clean your air sensors, and throttle body.

Thanks Tothemax; I did that (change plugs and coil packs) at around 86,000 miles. You are saying I do it again? So the last time I brought it in to the dealer for shuddering and hesitation and misfiring they told me it was my drive shaft that was loose and they "tightened" it up. Before they did this work I told them that I thought it was because of one of the TSBs issued on this problem and they immediately squelched that theory. I don't know who to believe but I do know that this shuddering comes and goes. Right now it is more coming than going. I can drive for 30 minutes before it starts and some days it starts right out of the gate. Other days it bogs down with no power and the wrench lights up.... I'm tired of it. My 1996 F150 was fine for 250,000 miles and my 2004 F250 couldn't get out of its own way but had absolutely no issues and I got 250,000 out of it too.
I have a service appointment Saturday with my dealer. We'll see what the computer says and the technician says, who knows? It might be trade in time being that i couldn't/wouldn't try selling this problem privately to someone.

If you have 60k miles on a set of ecoboost plugs, I would change those first and gap the new ones to .028-.030.

Should coil packs be done at the same time?
