Here is the Driver side Turbo intake hose and 18 is the crankcase tube connection for when the PCV needs to evac the block under boost and 17 is the gasoline vapor tube for the fuel tank system on early model EB. Changes were made to this system on later models.

Default Same Problem

I noticed a very small oil drip under the truck and went to investigate. The truck is a 2012 EB with 90000 miles on it. After looking through this sub I think it might be the same problem. Engine is bone stock, been using synthetic blend but recently was advised to switch to full synthetic.

I found that the oil seems to be coming from the intercooler outlet connection, and I just wanted to verify with the forum what the consensus might be.

This is looking up from the ground at the intercooler connection to the hose

This is looking down at the intercooler connection to the air intake hose.

I would clean that out quickly. It is obvious a lot is leaking past but play safe here an get it all out soon. this is what cost people motors if it can get injested. The soft side is a misfire episode. Of course it may be drilled ?

It also looks like the tube is not engaged properly. It should butt up against the shoulder and the ridiculous ring sits in the white groove that's visible.

If you haven't yet drilled the weep hole do so.

You're right that does look like a crack. My truck weeps around this area (no cracks). I don't understand why Ford uses this spring clip on the CAC outlet but uses hose clamps on the two inlet pipes to the CAC?

Is there and alternative method?

Thanks for all the replies. I will take it off, clean it out and drill the hole. I will try and make a post for the process this weekend.

Default Drill the hole

I drilled the hole 2 years ago after changing plugs twice. Haven't had a shutter or loss of power due to condensation since. My suggestion is sell the truck. The condensation issue is the least of that engines problems.. I have an older 150 with 250,000 miles on it. Love it. But after the issues with this 2011 f150, I won't buy another Ford.

I know at least two people have drilled the hole, so per LastResort's request, I wanted to get some before/after observations and results from drilling the hole.

And before anybody says it...
-It won't pull in dirt because there is never negative pressure there.
-It won't create an issue due to unmetered air because its not a MAF engine.
-It won't cause a decrease in boost because boost is on feedback control by the ECM.
-And finally, it won't cause a loss of engine power due to a reduction in airflow because a .050" hole will only leak .5 cfm at 15 psi.
I have a 2011 xlt with the 3.5 liter ecoboost and thankfully I purchased the extended warranty I had a problem with major power loss and took it up to ford and they said I had a bad coil. Well they fixed the one coil and put a new spark plug in and the problem seemed to disappear. But here we are again about a year later and I am getting a bad shudder between 30 and 40 and at highway speeds. My only question is if I drill the 1/16 hole in the intercooler what are the chances of the ford techs catching it and voiding my extended warranty? Not that it matters because I run out of my warranty this August or 125000 miles whichever comes first! Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
