Ok drilled the hole and turned engine on. Revved to about 2500 for a bit. Then I put it in drive and did the same. Didn't get nearly as much as I expected. Looks like oil to me though...
Maybe a teaspoons worth. Also, in DFW - plenty of humidity this week. And rain...

That's a good bit. Mine doesn't seem to sqiirt any water out either, but at least I have peace of mind knowing that I'm prepared if some does condense in there. It is amazing how much oil is backing up in there though. Guess I need to get a can. Hey Ez Do you have an air deflector on the intercooler?

I he the AC version so there is something on top. I did put a grate in the opening right after I bought the truck for the aesthetics.

Coming out from work, I noticed a nice puddle in front of my truck. This may turn into a mess. What is the catch can everyone is talking about?

Mine spit crud for about 4-5 days after drilling. Now it only drips, maybe twice, after long road trips with the cruise set.

Default 2015 f150 3.5 EB

Hello, just bought a 15 EB today and I've seen numerous forums about the catchcans and what they can prevent months before purchasing my truck! I see they have these condensation and oil vapor build up issues in colder climates, I live in Albuquerque, NM and it doesn't get that cold here in the winter! Was wondering if I should still install a catch can on my truck and if so which one? Thanks

There is another thread to ask about/find out about catch cans in. I catch the vapors in the hose going from the motor into the turbo myself. It works well. U can find out more in those other threads.

IMHO, and from direct results, the catch can is far more important than the CAC hole. But you are right that there will be less condensate in a warmer climate like NM. The use of ethanol gasoline exacerbates the problem because of it's hydroscopic nature. Ford did a poor design using a conventional PCV system in a high velocity/pressure turbo engine. It scavenges the blow-by (gas/water/oil) and blows it directly in on the intakes of cylinders 2&3, ultimately causing a lot of carbon build up. Even with lower humidity, you are still going to get the oil/gas gunk. So, in summary, I would definitely install a catch can on the Echoboost engine.

This is a weep hole discussion, not a catch can discussion. Keep it over in the CC thread so we dont start another pissing match.
