A dealer can't deny warranty service unless they can prove that your modification was the direct cause of the problem. Reputable tunes are pretty safe and reliable. I wouldn't get too worried about the warranty.

Great in theory. Horrible in reality. They have far deeper pockets than you and far better lawyers. It's not worth the fight.

I've never heard of a dealer illegally voiding a warranty because of custom tune. I've also never heard of a dealer involving a lawyer to illegally avoid warranty work. If the modification is not directly related to the issue, they have no legal leg to stand on. They can't deny a warranty for an unrelated mod.

Ford doesn't want customers pissed off and the bad PR that comes from their dealers voiding a warranty illegally. Press the issue and they will fix it if it's covered. The idea that a tuner is going to void a warranty is just paranoia in my experience.

They have to prove that the modification is directly responsible for the damage. However I have heard of plenty of dealers attempting to outright cancel a warranty if they see a modification. At that point it copmes down to the owner of the truck and how astute they can be with mangement at the dealership. The dealership knows when they are wrong, but they will try to strong arm you if they can.

Ive worked for Ford for about 10 years , Collision Center Manager , you cannot void someone's warranty because you see am filter , exhaust , suspension . Now what does happen is if you take the vehicle in for warranty and the issue is caused directly because of the part you modified then yes they can deny the work and void the waranty. They make more money charging a customer walk in labor rate then they do warranty work . they also get paid less time under warranty. So they are quick to look for modified parts so they can sell you the higher rate . If you have a tune in the truck and you bring it in because your window switch is acting up , one thing has nothing to do with the other . They also dont check to see if your running a tune in it . Unless the issue is motor related then I would put the truck back to stock settings and dont worry nothing will happen . The greater the issue the more in depth it will be looked at . Blown engines , and blown headgaskets are looked at carefully . I bad ac unit not the same , bad alternator also not a big deal .

Well of course if your window motor goes out a tuner won't void it. Hopefully we all have that much common sense and I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about if you lunch a turbo or a rear end and you have a tuner, regardless of whether or not the tuner caused it, your warranty is voided and you won't be able to fight it cause you won't be able to afford it. Ford doesn't give two rats about bad PR for one person.

Perfect example. Our member v84Inch. Just had his motor blow. Freak deal right? Had he been tuned he'd be footing that bill, not ford. Regardless of whether or not the tuner caused his engine to blow, ford would have seen it, denied it, and youre screwed.

Some of us know you have to pay to play. If I blow my engine I'll ship my truck to livernois and they can guinea pig it with ported heads big turbos or whatever else is available.
