Most likely the internals are watered down (cost cutting) for use behind the gassers...hense the de-fueling (TM) between shifts.

No different than the diesels. Throw some better clutches, or more clutches in, upgraded bands, upgraded steels, some billet steel shafts and drums, jack up the pressures, tweak the shift points, and there ya go.

Yea,thats what I had to do to my Powerstroke.I broke two 4r100's.The 3rd one is awesome.I did have to tone the shifts down quite a bit. Dp tuner spent a lot of time getting the triple disk converter (pwm) correct.I spent a lot of time tunning the valve body.I set it up to just get the shifts clean, not too hard. The worlds two best ford diesel trans builders Bts and John wood set them up to shift just a tad harder than stock and they hold up to 1000 plus ft/lbs of torque.

Yup. Ran a DTT in my dodge. I miss how that thing shifted.

Plenty of upgrades available for the 6r80 as it is the same trans used in the mustangs. There are all out drag and street stangs pushin 1000+ hp running around with 6r80's

I had a Garmon built trans in my dodge. Best mod for that truck. I won't be getting that serious with this truck though.

I've heard great things about his transmissions. I wonder if he works on these? Hmmm.

The reason it shifts so slowly compared to older mechanical valve body transmissions is the fact that the valve body is electronically controlled. The computer receives the signal input from the shift button, it has to "think" about the command it has been given, send the command to the proper solenoid, the solenoid has to "act", the gear takes a bit to engage. Thats a lot to do in half a second

Its just like a cable-actuated throttle body will give you better throttle responce (i.e. no "lag") compared to a fly-by-wire set up. There is no thinking involved, except by teh driver

No traditional RWD transmission will shift as fast as a dual-clutch trans. A DC trans is an automated manual trans that has actuators that shift the gears and depress either of the 2 clutches depending on the gear that's selected.

These aren't the only computer controlled transmissions out there. The newer diesels are and they can shift those heavy things faster than these transmissions. It's possible. If they are doing it in the mustangs then they can do it on these trucks. But, most people with these trucks would whine about harsh shifts if they actually felt a built transmission shift so there's no market for them.

Of course they can be made to shift faster.I think we are talking about the delay in M mode. The stock trans shifts slower in M mode than if let to shift on it's own.I have always felt it was a delay in the switch and electronics.I may be wrong.
