the battery is disconnected or a new battery is installed, the engine must
relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum driveability and
performance. Flexible fuel vehicles (FFV) must also relearn the ethanol
content of the fuel for optimum driveability and performance. To begin
this process:
1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
2. Put the gearshift in P (Park), turn off all accessories and start the
engine.
3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
6. Release the parking brake. With your foot on the brake pedal and with
the A/C on, put the vehicle in D (Drive) and allow the engine to idle for
at least one minute.
Note: If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle
quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle trim is
eventually relearned.
7. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process.
• The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles (16 kilometers) or more
to relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy along with the ethanol
content for flexible fuel vehicles.
• For flexible fuel vehicles, if you are operating on E85, you may
experience poor starts or an inability to start the engine and
driveability problems until the fuel trim and ethanol content
have been relearned."
Done several times. Helps for about a day or two then back to the usual. This also has nothing to do with the shudder or loss of power.

It's very simple, just remember to be easy with the plugs as you can crack them and the threads are aluminum (in the heads). The most difficult thing is the coil plugs. When you put them back I thread them until snug with my hand with no ratchet (just socket and extension). I used a 5/8 spark plug socket, a 6" extension, and a two inch extension plus a 1/4 ratchet and 8mm deep well for the coil screws. If you have questions please pm me and I'll help you out, I don't know you but I'd even be willing to walk you through it on the phone if you wish.

If you do, it should have its own thread and be a sticky thread (IMHO). A lot of people ask how to change their plugs, and if they can gap their own plugs since the box says not to.

I vote to go for it

Ford will never admit that there is still a problem, they're worried about the bottom line. If it start's an drive's they could care less, all there doing is pissing me off claiming how great these motor's are and no problem's of any kind they came up with a cheap easy fix an forgot about it.
